I spoke with a source close to Greg Frey this evening. I'm told a deal is still being worked through but at this point it sounds like something should be finalized in the next 24-hours, making Frey Florida State's next offensive line coach.
Yesterday we reported Frey and his wife made the drive from Tampa to Tallahassee after Michigan's bowl game. Frey and Willie Taggart met on campus and began the process of hammering out the details of the contract.
The biggest factor in Frey's decision to leave Michigan is his ability to get back to coach the entire offensive line. I do not know what the financials are looking like, I'm sure there is also a bump in pay involved, but over all the opportunity to coach the whole line is something Frey wants to get back to doing. At Michigan he is tight ends/tackles coach.
We'll update the situation when the deal becomes final.
I'm told from a source within the FSU program that Ron Dugans and Taggart will meet today and Dugans is expected to inform Taggart, one way or another, of his decision. That is the purpose of his trip to Tallahassee.
There's a report from Warchant that Ron Dugans is going to stay at Miami. However, I can confirm through a source close to Ron Dugans, that he's actually in Tallahassee today meeting with Willie Taggart.
I'm told Dugans arrived in Tallahassee late last night, around 10pm and was expected to be on Florida State's campus today. I'm going to stand on my report from yesterday that talks between Taggart and Dugans are "ongoing". A deal is not done and no final decision has been made, either way.
