Breaking down Willie Taggart's assistant coaching staff
Based on inside intel, here's what FSU's assistant coaching staff could look like

The ink is barely dry on Willie Taggart’s new contract with Florida State, but it’s never too soon to take a look at what his future assistant coaching staff may look like.
Based on intel that I’ve received over the past few days here are some scenario’s on how I could see his assistant coaching hires playing out:
Quarterbacks - This will be an interesting hire. I do not expect Taggart to bring Oregon quarterback coach Marcus Arroyo with him to FSU, as Arroyo is more of a west-coast guy. The names that I’m hearing include Shaun King, Chris Weinke and David Reaves. King and Reaves have coached on Taggart’s staff in the past and are both great on the recruiting trail. I’ve confirmed that Weinke has interest in the job and those close to Taggart tell me he may be under consideration.
Running Backs - I’m expecting the hire to be Donte' Pimpleton, the two have been connected from Western Kentucky, to USF, to Oregon. Although I expect it to be Pimpleton, I’d keep an eye on Marquel Blackwell as well. Blackwell coached running backs under Taggart at WKU, he’s also been a QC at Florida and USF. Blackwell is currently coaching running backs at Toledo.
Wide Receivers - For the past couple days I’ve been hearing strong rumors that Taggart will pursue Miami receivers coach and FSU alumni Ron Dugans. Based on what I hear, FSU should have a good shot at pulling Dugans from Miami. There’s a possibility Lawrence Dawsey could be held on, but as of now I feel Dugans is the guy.
Tight Ends - There’s a good possibility FSU could lure Tennessee offensive coordinator Larry Scott to FSU. It could be as either tight ends coach or offensive line if things with Mario Cristobal fall through. David Reaves, who I have listed at quarterbacks could also be a possibility at tight ends.
Offensive Line - Everything I hear points to Mario Cristobal, assuming he doesn’t have an opportunity to become a head coach elsewhere. Should Cristobal get hired as a head coach, Larry Scott could fill the position or Darren Hiller. Hiller coached offensive line at USF under Taggart and is currently at Indiana.
Defensive Tackles - Based on what I’m hearing I expect long time FSU assistant Odell Haggins to remain on the staff.
Defensive Ends - I’m expecting to hear more names, but for now the two that stick out are Eric Mathies, who is currently at FAU but coached under Taggart at USF. The other name of interest is Kevin Patrick, current NC State defensive ends coach. Patrick is from West Palm Beach and is a Miami Hurricane Hall of Fame defensive end.
Linebackers - Taggart split his linebacker coaches at Oregon, outside and inside. I’m expecting him to do the same at FSU. Look for Raymond Woodie to coach outside and defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt to coach inside. I’ve been told Leavitt is the first defensive coordinator that Taggart fully trusts and the two worked great together at Oregon.
Defensive Backs - I’m unsure of how the secondary will be split. The one name that I’m hearing is former ‘Nole and current Mississippi State coach Terrell Buckley. Buckley has been making his way up the coaching ranks these past few years and this is the year he could finally end up back at his alma mater.
Special Teams - If there is a designated special teams coach, I believe Alonzo Hampton will have a shot. Hampton is a QC at Oregon, he coached special teams and defensive backs at USF with Taggart. However, Leavitt is also known as a special teams guru and will have a heavy hand in this unit.

More Details: The timing of these hires will be tricky. Oregon has an early bowl game, they play December 11th and Mario Cristobalis the interim head coach. FSU’s bowl game isn’t until December 27th. I’m not exactly sure how the timing for each hire will go down, but I would not expect a complete staff until after FSU’s bowl game.
The 10th coach is also going to come into play. This rule goes into effect on January 7th. I’ve asked around and nobody is exactly sure of how Taggart will play it. I’m told he’d probably go with an extra coach at either defensive backs, receivers or use it as the special teams position. It’ll just depend on how the other nine spots are designated.

I copped some tickets to the basketball game tomorrow night. I'm going to try to get a pic with Willie for the culture.
I figured I can skulk past the 100 or so other people that will be in attendance.

We need this nikka here in the fold for '19. I saw him in person a few weeks ago and MAN
I miss going to the basketball games the most at FSU. I always had a ball, and watching the band turn up against the refs use to be a riot.I copped some tickets to the basketball game tomorrow night. I'm going to try to get a pic with Willie for the culture.

Have fun.
Sometimes I think about what could have been at USF if Leavitt hadn't punched that player
