Man I thought if Coach Taggart was gonna flop at FSU he would at least be a 7-5ish type coach with a great offense and a terrible defense. But breh is struggling just to be bowl eligible.
It sucks I really wanted breh to succeed as a black coach
But at some point you have to say fukk all that and call a spade a spade.
@klutch2381 broke it down perfectly there's no synergy amongst this staff. They don't fit well together.
And to speak on this whole clash of football ideals that’s happening. Part of it is that Willie doesn’t have any real philosophical football tenets. It’s why he’s so open to change which I am not trying to categorize as a bad thing. I’m just saying, the reason he’s so open to it naturally is that he doesn’t appear to have any real deep seated beliefs about football, and how it should be played. That being the case, you get these conflicting ideas that don’t fit from his supporting coaches.
You take any great football coach and he has some core shyt he believes about the game. Belichick values football versatility almost over anything. He believes the more one single player can do, the better the overall team. He also places a lot of value on players that are talented but undervalued because typically someone like them wouldn’t play that position (white rb’s and wr’s). He can get them cheap as hell, because he sets the market for them.
Saban thinks that out of all things you have to be tougher than the team you’re playing both mentally and physically. He believes that complacency isn’t just something that happens. It’s something you allow as a coach to happen. It’s why he’s still coaching so hard up 60 with a minute to go. Above all, he’s from the school that believe it’s about execution. It doesn’t matter what the other team does. If we execute the way we’ve trained to do there’s nothing they have for us. Funny enough, I’ve noticed he’s super flexible. He realizes you have to change with the times to some degree even if that change isn’t full fledged.
We all know Jimbo has his philosophies. He thinks corners should be a certain size, length, DL should be able to bend and dip, etc. He has his philosophies. I really can’t think of a really good coach that doesn’t have them. Maybe Dabo?
Lastly, the respect thing. These dudes don’t respect Taggart. There’s no way in hell these dudes can hear all the shyt people are saying about their coach and team being undisciplined, having a “HBCU staff,” and do the shyt they do on the field if they cared about breh. Listen, I hate Duke. I always have, I always will. But, years ago I saw coach K do some shyt that was the most, “respect my mind,” shyt I’ve ever seen a coach do. I don’t even recall who they were playing but their was a hard foul on a Duke player. The players on the bench stood up like they were about to run onto the court for that fade. Coach K literally not even looking at these dweebs on the bench raised his hand, and all them dudes sat down in complete unison. It was like he used to the force on them or some shyt. So yeah, being we’re seeing dudes do whatever they wanna do, I know what time it is.
On some level, I feel bad for Taggart. I can tell he desperately wanted things to work. I was never impressed by USF when he was there or when we played them, but sometimes genius is subtle. I wanted things to workout desperately as well, because I take this Seminole shyt, deeply. On another level, he got to live his dream and most people never get to do that in life. He’s also going to walk away with 27 million dollars, and will never have to worry about money again. I mostly feel bad for some coach 10-20 down the line that’s going to be hella qualified, but not get a real look at FSU because he’s black — and this whole episode. That’s honestly what frustrates me the most, but that’s a societal issue.
