I'm glad that we evolved the offense, I am, it's a true, evolved RPO offense compared to last year. Way less lateral passes and way less dependency on the run.

That being said, the offense is still garbage. It leaves way too much margin for error. Everyone on offense is expected to do too much. All the big plays in the 1st half minus the deep balls were a player making something out of nothing. Everything is designed for RAC, a receiver catches the ball, someone nearby basically sets up a pick before the pass or a block after the pass and then they have to make something out of nothing on a 2 on 1 situation. It just doesn't work for a full game.

This offense is missing what Jimbo gave, instead of making your reads after the ball is snapped (which is easier at the college level), you have to make your read before it's snapped, and pray. Rarely does Blackman have a checkdown to dump it down to or a backup plan in case they blow up the first read. It's a mess.

The defense needs work too, but the offense is where it all starts. Pretty annoying considering that Taggart is supposed to be an offensive specialist.

A large part of the problem was that Briles became unnecessarily one-dimensional. After it took a 31-13 lead on Helton’s TD catch with 4:07 left in the first half, Florida State had only nine designed runs the rest of the game. On the nine consecutive scoreless drives to end the game, multiple designed runs were called on just two of them. Akers had a costly fumble late in the third quarter in Boise State territory, but that’s still too extreme of a shift away from the run.

Even the passing game became exceedingly vanilla. Six of Blackman’s 11 completions on those drives were either screens or short dump-offs that gained 2 or fewer yards; four of his seven incompletions were errant deep shots. The Seminoles became predictable and stagnant, and Boise State took advantage.

Boise State averaged 5.4 yards per play and made it to the red zone twice in the first quarter, but couldn’t finish off drives with TDs. On top of that, the Broncos likely would’ve scored on their first drive if not for Hamsah Nasirildeen forcing a fumble. While the Seminoles only allowed six points in the period, they gave up 173 yards. The scoreboard may not have shown it, but the unit was in trouble.

Following Blackman’s aforementioned strip sack, the tangible proof of that started to show. Subtracting the final drive, in which Boise State simply kneeled out the clock, it gained 405 yards and scored 30 points in its next 10 drives. It ran an incredible 70 plays in that span and averaged 5.8 yards per play. It had nine passing chunk plays (gains of at least 15 yards) and six running chunk plays (gains of at least 10 yards) in that stretch. It went 7-of-14 on third downs, extending drives and keeping a gassed FSU defense on the field.

FSU is 80-2 in the past 15 seasons when it has led by at least 18 points. Both losses have come under Taggart. … The Seminoles have surrendered at least 36 points in five of their past six games.

What was staggering to me was how open the Boise wr's were. I mean they were WIDE open
That sort of thing tends to happen when you have DEs and LBs lines up on slot guys. This 3-4 ain’t the move. There’s a rumor that dikk LaBeau offered to come in and show the defensive coaches how he coaches the 3-4 and they turned him down. #FireBarnett

Sounds just like Mac turning down help from Spurrier two years ago. Incompetence

Nobody......and I mean NOBODY, expected Marvin Wilson, Corey Durden, and Robert Cooper to lose in the trenches that much.....ALL GAME LONG! Granted the QB got hit a lot on blitzes, but he had way too much time to throw. Philosophy error on Harlon's part. Instead of making his life miserable with blitzes all day, he decided to "force" the freshman to make reads and....well....he did. I was sick to my stomach on the 3rd and 17 completion. Harlon rushed 3 and dropped 8 :stopitslime:

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
We need to go back to a 4-3 ASAP. You have to put consistent pressure on the QB without blitzing every damn down. I hate the Raiders being a Broncos fan, but what Al Davis said about the QB must go down and he must go down hard is like the realest football shyt ever. It’s the surest way to impact an offense as a defensive unit.

I just feel that while I know y'all calling for a revert back to a 4-3, I'd do one better and revert to a 4-2-5 and let McRae be the 2nd LB and slide Woodbey to the Rover/Star/Nickel position unless he's outgrown that. IDK who y'all would have at Rush End/Buck, but yea that lack of pass rush was noticable as well.

Everyone knows they should do this except this dumbass defensive staff. And don't get me started on how many guys are playing outta position. Plus they clearly play favorites no reason guys like Brooks and Myers should be out there. This defensive staff has no clue.

Florida athletes should not be playing anything but a 4-3.

It was fukking ridiculous when Goldens staff tried it during his tenure at Miami. It’s not a winning formula.
