But Chicago has the strictest gun laws in America...why isn't the gun deaths going down? Why is it the highest in America?

:notsure:

The gangs are the problems more so than the guns. You dismantle the gangs, the crime will undoubtedly plummet.

I can understand the point you're trying to make but unless you live here you're just tossing out demonic statements and trying to make it fit. No disrespect friend.

Still :rudy: at all these hunters shooting defenseless animals from a distance passing themselves off as 'peaceful' people that we should put our trust in to own guns in case the Government 'comes for us'.

It's 2012, we off that:

again more on the cultural front...
I shot my first rabbitt on easter :manny: all my uncles hunt, my cousins hunt, my pops used to hunt, it's looked at as more a time to bond as men. Could it be done in a different way? Sure, but that's the fam tradition. I know a lot of people like that, guns, for many family are as common place as vehicles.

Alarm bells ring for me personally whenever someone drops the word 'tradition' for anything but that's beside the point.

I agree it's a cultural problem before its a legal one. Americans somehow seem to think having access to guns is vital because they should have the right to kill (or 'defend themselves'). In most cases we get the shooting of animals, Trayvon Martins or other random people instead.

I still don't see how people who can go out shooting at animals for any reason can call themselves peaceful :ld:

In most of Western Europe being a hunter is like the lowest thing you can be; princes and kings (see Spanish King and Dutch Prince) had to back down in 2012 to public outrage for participating in it. You will never hear somebody say in public that they spent the weekend shooting at anything.

(Now of course the hypocrisy is that factory farming is MUCH MUCH MUCH worse and more violent than hunting but that's a separate topic)

In America being a hunter is like a badge of honor as if there's any real accomplishment in it. I have fam in the US and friends that I debate regularly on this point that for all of the American's bravado - there's not another nation of people on this planet scared of so many phantom menaces as Americans.

Same people that will excuse their armies to go and fight anywhere outside of US soil wants to be armed to the teeth in case that army pulls an Anakin Skywalker.

Listen, the 2nd Amendment isn't about hunting but I do like to hunt occasionally.

Would I be more peaceful if I just went to the supermarket or restaurant and just ordered my meat that was killed by someone else?

When I hunt, I consume or use whatever I can from the animal. I don't make trophies out of them. I consume them.

Believe it or not, it establishes a respect for the animal because you actually witness that their life is being sacrificed in order for me to sustain myself. I live in the city, so I try to drive up at least once a year to go camping, fishing, and hunting. It teaches you valuable life skills, and shooting defenselessness animals might not be as easy as you think, and I don't always use rifles.

Anyway, I can assure you that I respect the animal and I'm not out there taking facebook pictures or mounting anything on my wall.

If you disagree, I understand.
