Yeah, I listened to P's book don't remember a whole lot, but I do remember wondering how P ended up being so caught up in the streets. Early in P's book he describes his family and it seemed like they weren't rich but pretty well off.

-P's mom was a member of The Crystals
-father was a member of a doowop band named The Chanters
-grandfather was a saxophonist, great uncle was a trombonist they worked with LEGENDS
-great great great grandfather was the founder of Morehouse College

P's father had a lot of issues and ended up incarcerated. So P was pretty much raised by a single mother, I guess the music money dried up, and her musical career ended so she worked for the housing authority and moved to LeFrak City which led to P being around projects and the influence of the streets.

He didn't have to move to be around projects. All that is right in Hempstead.
