You forgot to take off your hat because it's been a long time since you've heard the national anthem at a live sporting event.
You aren't American and didn't know about this.

It would have made you look even worse if you attacked the dude. Then, you would have had to pretend that you are an anti-American and you are about to join ISIS. It would have ruined your life, so taking the L was better.
