A few weeks ago it was tracking for a $170 million 4 Day Weekend Domestic and a $300+ Million Worldwide Debut.

The 3 Day has come in at $83 Million, a 4 Day $100 Million is looking questionable.

But the dagger? It opened wide this weekend worldwide including China. And it made $65 Million for a WW total of $148 Million.

This movie making more than $400 Million is not a sure thing.

With a reported $300 Million budget + Marketing this is a straight up flop.

We are talking upwards of a loss in the $200 Million. Maybe more.

Is it fatigue? The last Jedi backlash? People just not interested in seeing anyone but Harrison Ford?

Does this have any effect on Star Wars or just a bump in the road?

Lot of interesting things can be taken, depending on what narrative you believe

Why do people say plus marketing? The marketing is part of the overall budget.

No it isn’t. The budget is the production budget. Marketing is completely separate.

A lot of films spend more on marketing than the actual production budget.

Even on the Low end this film spent at least another $100 million on marketing.

For example Rampage has a $120 Million Budget but marketing and everything cost an additional $150-170 Million reportedly

Naw, the budget doesn't include marketing because marketing isn't decided until after the movie is done.

Yeah it does nikka. I know what the fukk I'm talking about.

Wrong.

A lot of films spend more on marketing than the actual production budget.

That's almost always the case.

You’re wrong. But I’m not going to argue. Numbers get released all the time and marketing is always separated. Every year deadline does their most profitable films of the year lists and breaks down everything and marketing is always separate. Something like “don’t breathe” has a tiny ass budget but then spends 10x as much on marketing.
