They have no choice but for Barry to get his ass whooped on a weekly basis. It's common sense, same way Hulk and Thor are terribly weak in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would kill the point of the story. Could you imagine the show introducing Speed Steal? What am I saying, they would make him suffer amnesia and never use that again like Smallville Clark forgetting how to fly. The Flash Family are some characters that have to be downplayed constantly by their writers or they would be gods. Speed Force is no joke.

Thor needed Loki's help in the second film.
He stalemated with Iron man....something that never happens in the books. Iron Man's repulsor beams don't even move him back an inch in the books...
As for Hulk they really haven't made him "weak" per say, merely ineffectual. He could end dudes with one grab, but then there'd be no movie.

he was holding back during the fight with Iron Man in the movie, just like he explains right here
in fact, in the Avengers movie, they proved he was more powerful than Iron Man
Thor went toe to toe with the Hulk, whereas Iron man needed a whole different armor to put him on par with Hulk

The line in in the panel "I'm not holding back" was in reference to previous fights wherein he still won their duels but it took longer due to him playing with his food. It actually proves my point, Thor even holding back, beats Iron Man. The movies (especially Thor 2) make him look very weak. Especially when they have him struggling with what is essential a metal box (Loki's prison). In the comics, the guy dents the Extremis suit by merely touching it.
And yes he did go toe to toe with the Hulk, but again that was a brief stint just to bait and switch the audience for a couple of minutes, before we have him chasing down Black Widow....that was just horrible writing in general. Ultimately they make him look weak.

Both dropped some interesting points.
Back to his sparring session with Ironman in A1. He really was just fukking around with him I dont think he even put in a 10th of the effort because he was more concerned with his brother. I dont think in any point of that sparring session did he even get close to a third or seriousness.
Later he went toe to toe with Hulk... that proved he is strong.
That metal box is supposed to be something that is strong enough to hold even HULK. If World Breaker Hulk hasnt been introduced in the MCU and I'm guessing only that would probably broken that box.
Thor 2, he fault another strong powered being that later got a extreme upgrade..... Thor's own father didnt want to see the villain.
But when Thor has fault other superbeings (beings way stronger than the basic humans like the ice creatures or rock creatures, etc.... he basically wrecked everyone)
Honestly.... I dont think he's weak but I also dont think we've really seen the full depth of his power to really make a solid judgement either.
