I'm sure this "plot twist" was probably known in the promotions that were shown in Colombia. But Netflix definitely knew hiding it in the American worldwide promos cause it'd definitely read differently.

Apparently one of the producers behind this also did another Colombian slave telenovela about a white slave in Colombia so there's differently some romanticizing of slavery for audiences.
