The marriage label matters to me, because it matters to others. Listen, I'm probably more nihilistic than you ever will be...but I understand how society works and how to manage the expectations and views of others. You have to do that as well. Smart policy is better than selfish policy.

We've discussed that point ad nauseam, breh. It's not a complicated concept. I never denied there'd be less mates. My response was and still is it's not the government's place to stifle someone else's pursuit of happiness to ensure that you, or anyone, has a mate.

So it's the word 'marriage' that has you riled up. Fair enough. Since I agree with not letting them enjoy tax or any other government benefits, I think it makes sense to give it a different label: how about polygasized?

Marriage is a legal contract you enter with another party, irrespective of any rights or benefits associated.

And we already have a term for it. Its called BIGAMY

Except, women don't have that option now, so you can't assess whether or not they would remain that way.

The fact is, if you allow something, people will do it.

So how do you account for the increased number of unwed people and the even larger number of people who can't find girlfriends/boyfriends?

More people will experiment in polygamy knowing that they can seek polygamous relationships. The only reason people DONT do it now is because you can't get married that way currently. It becomes futile for many people to continue those relationships in our current system.

Marriage is a legal contract. I don't see the problem with allowing polygamists to have a legal contract as well.
