If you have a good lawyer and you can prove to the court that you're able to take care of the child, there's no reason for the court to refuse you a shared custody. Many fathers played their cards right.

I agree It's very uncommon, but more and more woman are making more than their spouse, so with time we probably going to see many cases like this, i personally know a dude who received hundreds of dollars per month for child support, and during the process he lost his job but the judge granted him a shared custody just because he had a place to live and everything was right, he never been to jail, clean record, he's educated, etc.
