Thanks, but as a native NYer, I don't think that's a diss. In this era, you don't have to come to NY to come to the different labels to get your music to be heard. Now, all you have to do is have a soundcloud or audiomack page, get a decent following, and SOMEBODY will sign you. Any & everybody is getting noticed during the social media era.
