A 49 year old BHop vs a 32 year old Ward, please post with some damn sense man. BHop aged gracefully but all that alien shyt is irrelevant, the nikka was still old as fukk. No way does he get manhandled like that vs Kovalev in his prime, there is literally nothing you can take away from that fight to gauge Ward's chances.
100% agree with this. Kovalev beating a 50 year old B-Hop doesn't mean a fukking damn thing pertaining to his matchup against Ward.

I remember Bhop as the heavy underdog coming into Tito fight. His win looked unimpressive against Keith Holmes while Trinidad completely annihilated William Joppy. Most of the people predicted that Tito will be knocking out Bhop.

I see a similarities in this bout although Kovalev is the bigger guy and Tito was coming off from 154 division but Krusher have the same punching power of Tito on a higher division and Ward have the technical prowess of Bhop.
Nah, I really don't see it. For one, Ward is coming up and Felix was the one who came up. And Ward isn't even considered an underdog at all, especially not to the point that Hopkins was. Also, Tito was a level above everyone else involved in terms of popularity at the time.

But if SOG throws Kovalev's flag we can talk. :troll:

agreed and :mjlol: ward doesn't have that kind of fukkery in him..it wouldn't be befitting of someone who blasphemes himself as the son of god :troll:

Bhop and Ward's personalities are night and day. But in the ring, they have many similarities.

I'm talking boxing iq here nikka. I already conceded that ward is much younger and athletic, that's obvious. My point is that bhops mental acumen, the same acumen that had him looking brilliant just one fight before against beibut and against cloud and pascal, had absolutely no impact on Kovs focus and boxing. The fact that bhop had absolutely no answer to even stall Kov advance or anything showed me just how smart and prepared Kov was against one of the smartest minds in boxing history. Bhop was OUTBOXED by Kov. Y'all can pretend like that's irrelevant if you want as if bhop wasn't old and slow 10 yrs ago. Wards biggest advantage against most opponents is his boxing iq, if that's nullified and he can't make Kov fight his fight and get inside and make it ugly the match will be WAY harder for ward and he will probably lose.

Sergai will fight hard and he has a good hook body punch. It's crisp and dangerous but I think Ward's movement and ring generalship is what dictates the pace of the fight. Very interesting fight. Sergai will press and will take big chances if he gets behind.

Just because he couldn't KO him doesn't mean he outboxed him.
He did what he always does but no special strategy, preparation or whatsoever. He did exactly the same what he always does, pressed Hokins for the KO and Hop wasn't enough physically anymore to handle that but he had still enough craft to not get KOd and survive.
Not hard to be dominant against an opponent who's afraid to throw and just wants to survive from round 1. 49 years old Hop just figured out after that KD that he isn't enough for this... most of Kovalev's opponent also break down like that in the first few rounds and they go in survive mode and that's perfect for Kovalev. But it's not like they couldn't hit him if they really want. Kovalev's defense is not that great but he makes his opponents scared to throw.
Same with Golovkin.

All things will depend on Ward's mental strongness and the play with distances. Whoever will control the distance will win this. And Ward is probably the best in playing with distance
