Why has Ronaldo won the best player award the last two years if it's not close like you're implying?

Even when he's not scoring goals, Messi is creating chances and providing assist for his teammates. Give Ronaldo no room or space and he's practically a nonentity ala him against Athletico. Main while Messi carves through their tough defense with his technical skills, and high iq. Ronaldo is not even the most technical on his team.

This is the internet where everything is always an absolute, but both are GREAT players, who offer a team different tactics and flexibility. At the end of the day, both are once in a generation goal scorers. Messi is more of a classical number 10, dribbler and facilitator, while Ronaldo is a machine who can cut in off that right foot and shoot from anywhere. Messi can do the same with that left foot but he offers more of a threat with the ball at his feet from deeper positions than Ronaldo does imo. Depending on what attributes i want my team to have, is who i'd choose but you can't go wrong at the end of the day.

Ronaldo is bigger, stronger and a better goalscorer than Messi. Also, Ronaldo has shown he can succeed outside Real Madrid whereas Messi hasn't shown he can do it outside Barcelona. So I'll take Ronaldo over Messi. Some of Messi's effectiveness comes from Iniesta and Xavi in my opinion.

I concede you have a point. Ronaldo looked lost in his last game against Atletico. They shut him down. On the other hand Messi looks far better in his cutup (which I'm watching now). His passes are more incisive and intelligent. Ronaldo merely passes back or crosses when pressured. Messi looks for the forward pass and lofted ball. His technical ability, movement and passing appears better too. I was wrong. Messi is better. :ehh:

This is what my friend says to a T but he's a fanboy so I kinda took it with a grain of salt. Hearing it from a different source makes me think he's keeping it 100.

It's called admitting you're wrong. I could have argued myself into a hole and never admitted my error like everybody else does. But I'm a valiant person. I do what's right.

It's not a matter of conceding being wrong. It's that you did it so swiftly after making good points.

Both are protected. Leo has played with the some of the best midfielders ever, and Nadlo played with some of the GOAT. As a Man U supporter, I will always pick Ronaldo, but it's not something I would argue about.
