in 1989

uefa cup in 1989 was different than today

partecipated all european team from 2 to 5 position in their championship

and in champion's league (in 1989 champion's cup) partecipated only teams win their championship previous year
so in uefa cup could be bayern or barcelona or chelsea while real dortmund and united playing in champion's

I have to pick Maradona :yeshrug:

I never saw Pele play. He was before my time. As a young boy i fell in love with football because of Maradona so he's basically my starting point in in football.

Pele is Football GOD, tho. Dont take my vote for Diego as a disrespect or slight to the original GAWD

Im not sure most basketball players have the endurance to play soccer professionally. Basketball players and american football players are used to taking too many breaks in between plays. They'd be out of breath and need oxygen after 20 minutes of play. Your body aquires the endurance needed for soccer over a long period of time playing the game

Brazil won the 1962 World Cup easily despite losing Pele to injury early in the competition. They never really needed him... That's how much stronger they were compared to other teams :manny:
But Maradona took a VERY average (if not mediocre) team to glory in 1986. He's the only player who basically won the World Cup by himself.
- Argentina almost failed to qualify for that world cup (they got in thanks to a late goal in the final qualification game)
- They were not among the favorites when the World Cup started (France was the strongest team, followed by Brazil, Italy and Germany)... Argentina was never in the discussion.
- He was the only star on that team. They were just a strong defensive team with a genius free to do his thing.

Pele was a more complete player (physically stronger) but Maradona was inimitable with the ball on his feet :ohhh:

That's the goat warm up vid. Pele is more iconic but maradona is my cocaine sniffing hand balling GOAT. There is. Vid of Zidane talking about how maradona on warm ups would hit the post Nd have ball come back to him 5 times in a row

Who is better between maradona and messi?

I'm hearing messi has better numbers and league success but people still give it to maradona because off the world cup.

Maradona wipes the floor with Messi. Messi has had the advantage of playing with the same club and players since he was 12 years old. Compound that with the fact that these players, xavi and iniesta, also happened to be two of the best creative midfielders of the last generation it's hard to say he's better than Maradona who was known for his ability to carry average teams on his back toward glory (Napoli and Argentina 86). Messi has scored more goals and won more club titles but the overarching factors when compared to Maradona still place him in 2nd. Furthermore, as far as Argentines are concerned, no WC title? No comparison to Maradona.

They don't know about it.

:rudy:

But seriously like Real Talk did you see Andre and Jordan's fathers prime or you going off hearsay? Coz it's one thing saying his name it's totally different to seeing him play back in the early 90' s. And if you was like 3 when this happened then :camby:

Coz I remember the hype of Nil Lamptey as well.

Messi is the GOAT. People pick Maradona for the WC win and nostalgic purposes.
