What will matter more for him is 2 things:

a deepish tourney run to solidify his stock for the reasons you just mentioned: he's not yet out there in terms of the casual's conscience. Curry didn't shine til he got in the tourney and put in work. Buddy Hield was doing Young-like shyt, but he carried that to the Final Four and wound up getting picked 6th. The other thing is just maintaining that shot during workouts. If he keeps this up, he can pick his workouts.

At the very least, he has overtaken Porter's spot in these conversations. The one thing I feel will hurt him is that because of last year's PG draft, a lot of bad teams suck, but at least they have PG's. I could see Phoenix picking him. I could see Orlando taking him. Every other team is begging for a messy clusterfukk if they go Young.

Basically, what tre said - size, lack of athleticism, what can he offer when he's not scoring, will he be drafted to a team where he has the monopoly of possessions and if not how will he go with minimal TOP, how will he be utilized, team/coaching, environment etc. The bust potential is real because of that. Plus he has a frame which is going to be hard to add weight/size to, whereas despite Curry being lean he still had a big frame at college.

Came to say this...Curry atleast had a team to build on. He also was a lanky 6'2-6'3 which helped.

In relation to Trae, yes he does. Broader shoulders, longer arms/legs, longer/wider base etc. He had a frame to build more size/weight. I question if you even watched Curry in college. Don't confuse being lean with someone not having a "big" frame. Trae is of small stature, Curry wasn't.
