This is bullshyt. Pure bullshyt. They came back with the album right after that and dropped more street hits and chart hits. Not only that. P dropped HNIC the next year over. U dont know what u talkin bout. AND AGAIN. I wasnt bragging about Mobb Deep selling plat. U said they weren't contenders and they were on their way out. I said how is that possible when it was their most commercially successful album up until that point. My statement ain't have shyt to do with Eve. Go back and reread the exchange. Cause u missed the point just trying to win an argument.

are you talking about the infamy??
HNIC wasn't poppin like that outside of a few cuts.

AGAIN, I didn't say they were on their way out yet. their days as contenders were over tho.

I mean, they may have still been the rave in new York, but outside of NY, they were moreso one of your older brother's groups at this point. shoot, you can say MOP was the better old nicca NY rap duo thru that time period.

I broke down their sales for the murda music album already. they caught heat on a single(thanks in large to lil kim) in the midst of the sales-spike era.

Swizz isn't snubbed. He gets his props. He just isn't better than Timbaland. And to speak to Timbaland's Hip Hop pedigree, there's a reason Timbaland was more sought after by NY rappers than Swizz with a greater return. Jay worked more with Timbaland than he did Swizz. Everybody from Jada to Fab to 50 to Banks to Nas went to Tim and Jay (who has worked with nearly every great Hip Hop producer dubbed him as Timbo the King) and you have Fat Joe on record saying Tim is a Top 3 producer.

And Tim wasn't smoked. It was even. Tim got the best of Swizz at the beginning. Both had a mediocre middle and Swizz got Tim at the end.

This.

I already argued about how Murda Muzik proved that Mobb Deep wasn't "borderline old school" in 1999 when they'd just dropped theor most successful album.

Breh, you are clearly biased. You'd made up your mind before even seeing the battle and you probably didn't even see the whole battle anyway.

Artists went to Tim for more than just radio joints check Vol. 3 (only one of four Timbo joints is a single). You got Jay performing "It's Hot" at The Tunnel and the crowd went wild. That song was never a single.

Breh, you pop an awful lot about the streets only to prove how far removed from them you are with every post. You were in that thread poppin' off about how huge We Are The Streets was all while trying to downplay Murda Muzik based off the outlandish notion that Mobb Deep was borderline old school. Talk about embarrassing yourself.

And speaking of We Are The Streets, one of the standouts on it is the Timbaland produced "Ryde or Die Chick" on an album full of Swizz production.

youre the one that's talking like you didn't watch the video actually.

and how did the bolded work out?? the least-popular album of his big run, and never went back to using timbo as much for non-singles until after hip-hop died.

I watched the entire thing and posted about it in the Summer jam thread.

The Tim joints from Vol. 3 were the standouts aside from "Dopeman" and "So Ghetto"

Breh, don't play yourself. I remember listing rappers who were hot in Atlanta back in the 90's and you had no idea who Kilo was, but wanted to pop off about what Kast meant/didn't mean to Atlanta.

Call someone a hermaphrodite and have two separate accounts for whatever sex you feel like identifying with depending on the thread.

since when is murda muzik a classic?:laff:
when that chit was out, I remember Eve's album was hotter. so it that's a classi then so is Eve's 1st jawn.

wait, are you saying that ryde or die volume one isn't a classic?? that's blasphemy.
The OG Murda Muzik that got leaked on Napster was a classic. The retail version wasn't quite but it was a very solid 4 mics and was better than Eve's 1st album for sure. You still had Quiet Storm (the original and the remix), The Realest, It's Mine, Where Ya Heart At, Streets Raised Me, USA, Adrenaline, Allustrious, Deer Park...

The retail Murda Muzik was very respectable breh.

mob deep wasn't even killin all like that anymore at this point aside from certain jawns here n there.

'99 wasn't their time, hombre.
'99 and '00 was the peak of their mainstream appeal man, between Murda Muzik and HNIC. Quiet Storm, the remix with Lil Kim, and Keep It Thoro were probably their 3 of their top 5 most successful joints. Murda Muzik was their first album that went platinum. Got It Twisted was the biggest song they had after that.
