I think that's slightly different though. Jennifer Lawrence's character doesn't have superhero powers. That's a franchise built upon survival as opposed to superheros. I'll grant you it will do numbers depending on the actress as did Lucy based upon Scarlett Johannson's star power. Cactain Marvel isn't gonna do sh!t though with some random blonde b!tch doing the role. Regardless, I hope the shyt bombs and they quit trying to make these films. Wonder Woman looked trash too btw since we're on the subject. I thought it was Kim Kardashian at first.

So you actually want a marvel film to bomb...:patrice: Just because it will have a female in a lead role????

Dude it's Marvel... :mindblown: This is like the jordan and bulls winning championships... they dont fail.... or lose for that matter. :pachaha:

Dude it wont be over until that infinity war part 2.... Marvel making billions.... :russ:

I'm not some misogynist type dude, and I don't want a film to fail just because it's lead is a female. I don't like any of these comic book adaptions, at all. All of them are trash to me and there's too many of them at that. Sorry actors and sorry actresses. When I see the previews, all I see is a bunch of cacs with special effects going on in the background. I'm yet to see any of these films get a female right, or at least somewhat believable. To contrast, Ripley in the first Alien film worked for me, I could completely believe her as a character. Even Xena to some degree was believable as campy as that show was. Still, 90% of these female superheros are corny to me. It actually disgusts me somewhat. Admitttedly it's Monday and I'm disagreeable, so pardon me.

They'll make their money, but won't get a dime from me.

This is a Thread about a comic book movie. If you got nothing to add go be all pissy and sad without posting.

Superheroine cac women. I'll pass. Nothing realistic about it. It's not real, and features a 5-2 anorexic white Hollywood b!tch with special effects. I might be a genuine hater too but guarantee you any Superheroine featured movie will bomb. Not misogyny, but reality.

Studios figured this out about a decade ago with the failure of female led action films like Catwoman, Elektra, Tomb Raider 2, and Aeon Flux. They would have wisely kept to understanding the lesson learned from these failures, but with the recent success of superhero films and the Hunger Games, there's been a surge of women on the internet metaphorically screaming at the top of their lungs and demanding Superheroine films, so studios apparently feel pressured to make them for social reasons and/or think there might be money this time around. The question is-for all of their demands, are these women and other folks demanding superheroine films actually going to pay and put their asses in theater seats to watch these films?

Frankly, I concur with you. I think both Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman have a very good chance of failing critically/commercially. Especially WW. Even if she manages to somehow pull it off in BvS, there's no chance in hell Gal-Freaking-Gadot can carry a movie focused on her.

Exactly! I'm very curious about the answer to that question myself.

Good thing you guys have seen Ms. Marvel and WW already, I need some lottery numbers. On topic tho we haven't seen a female lead Superhero movie in a long ass time and the majority of Superhero movies are putting up numbers. WW will probably be the benchmark for future solo female superhero movies

HOT RUMOR: Rebecca Ferguson Reportedly At Top Of Marvel's List For 'Captain Marvel'

Umberto Gonzalez September 10, 2015

1441917204662

BREAKING

Got a hot tip that Rebecca Ferguson, who is UBERHOT at the moment coming off Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is at the top of Marvel's list to play Captain Marvel.

Now at press time I'm not sure if talks have taken place or if an offer has been made.

However, here is a clue...

Last month she took herself out of the running to be the female lead in Gambit. Instead, she chose to play Anna in the Tate Taylor directed adaptation of Paula Hawkins novel The Girl On The Train with Emily Blunt.

Could she be considering the bigger fish instead over at the MCU?

I know Marvel and I especially know they chase HEAT. Ferguson was mighty impressive and the genuine surprise of the summer as the British Agent in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

This story is developing and pending further confirmation.

I will report back as I learn more.

Fun little scoop nonetheless.

Stay tuned...

So I guess the thing for all of these comic book gossip sites is to just take whatever woman has recently been in a well-received action movie and say she has the inside track on the Capt. Marvel role.
First it was Emily Blunt based off her role in Edge of Tomorrow, then it was Charlize Theron based off of Mad Max: Fury Road, then Bryce Dallas Howard after Jurassic World and now it is Ferguson based off her role in MI: Rogue Nation.
