Haven't played it yet but similar to Origins and Odyssey. Enjoyed both those games but it does end up feeling like a chore because its just too much repetitive filler stuff. I heard this game is not like that though (cant confirm).

Also, I am personally not a fan of the direction this game is heading too, don't really care about all mythology and all that. But that has been a hit for Ubisoft and I dont see it going away.

Watched my wife play and she loves it.

I've tried getting her to play GoT but she insists she would hate it even though she loves stealth in games.

From what I've seen, the people that hate ACV seem to dislike the location/scenery more than anything. I think the Viking shyt is cool, so I'm in...but a lot of people may not be.

The combat doesn't seem as good as GoT. Jin Sakai fighting Mongols was smooth as fukk. I don't expect a 9th century Viking to be as smooth as a 13th century Samurai....but....that part jumped out at me.

Still, it's a good game from the looks of it. Certainly better than Watchdogs or Godfall :russ:

The only AC ive played its the OOOG one on the Triple:francis:

:dwillhuh:

Everything afterward will feel like a tenfold upgrade, get AC2 and Brotherhood and enjoy that Ezio goodness:jawalrus:
@Jerz-2 I'd say go with Black Flag to start, AC2 through Revelations will all seem dated graphically even though they have the best actual story.

Yes, friends, Assassin's Creed actually had a decent story once upon a time. :to:

They seem to "rebooting" the series by rewriting the ending of 3. They seem to realize everything since 3 has been convoluted. Unfortunately, the ending plays out exactly how 3 ended to a tee with the new villain using the protagonist and the entire games before being a waste of time. Exactly similar to what Juno did with Desmond. History basically repeating itself.

I wouldn't mind it necessarily if we weren't already 13 years in to the modern day story and we are years away from seeing how it fully plays out. There seems to a path towards endgame now it's just a matter of the series will last long enough to see it through.

I read up on that, and this shyt is absurd. At this point, it's weird that the modern day story is more interwoven with the Animus stuff than ever, but they still try to keep the modern day stuff to a minimum. Realistically speaking, the series has reached a point where they could really just put out new games that are entirely based in whatever historical setting they're using and call it a day, but they dug themselves a narrative hole that they don't seem to be sure how to get themselves out of

Your second sentence explains exactly what they are trying to do. If they are going to continue telling a modern story, then they are going to have to devote more time into doing so rather than keeping it to a minimum each game. 13 years and countless games into the modern day story and they still seem years away from endgame. That’s insane.

I feel like it’s one of those situations where we will end up not getting a proper ending or it will be convoluted if we do. They literally need to pick up the pace at this point or do away with modern day altogether.

It's extra frustrating because in both Desmond and Layla's arcs, it seemed like all their animus learning was supposed to be leading them to some sort of conflict in modern day, only for them to be shuffled off to be some background character the appears randomly in a game nearly a decade later, or be important in a comic mini series that few people end up reading. Even moreso considering 3 had some alright modern sequences, but they seemingly kill Desmond at the end, and their takeaway from the reaction to that game was to downplay actual gameplay in modern day.

The amount of crazy modern day shyt that happens off screen in these games is maddening. If I remember correctly, in Odyssey, your crew gets assaulted by the templars, and one of them almost died, but it's boiled down to it being a quick line of dialogue over a walkie talkie. I agree that this likely ends in an incoherent mess, but I'd love them to at least take a chance on that mess. As it is now, everything just feeds itself in a loop in which both storylines keep pointing you at the other while simultaneously telling you that it really doesn't matter.

They have it bad about not following up storylines from previous games or doing timeskips all together. One in particular was the ending of Origins where William wanted Layla to come along with him. They never followed on it and he hasn’t appeared in game since.

It seems like they are surely about to kill him off whether in the DLC or offscreen leading to the next game.

Yeah, that got me too. I was fully expecting William to show up and be an a$$hole to everyone, and........nope! I'd bet good money on him getting killed off offscreen too. :snoop:
