I stumbled on this thread and must admit, a lot of interesting information. I've joined this site to give you my take on H Town..but first i wanted to comment about the Trill Azz Mixes. the 1st Trill Azz Mixes was put together by a dj from nashville named C Wiz, in conjunction with UGK. Pimp gave him a couple of pieces along with what he already had & he went in the studio & tracked it up. Bun B has stated in the past that C Wiz used to always be at them about doing one & after they did it, they were getting shows from it, during the time that they were having issues with bytchass Jive Records. Trill Azz Mixes 2 was done by UGK's dj Dolby D, which is how he got a couple of pieces that aren't available & he tracked it up as well. Jive Records didn't have anything to toss a dj track wise from UGK with the exception of "you don't know me" & an early version of "my bytch", which couldn't be released due to the sample clearance

this is the original version [screwed up]:

this is the version most people have heard:

As for Htown, it's unfortunate that the rap scene is the way it is here. For those who don't live here I will tell you Htown may appear to be this big city, but it's really made up of a bunch of towns & along with it is the country town mentality. There is no unity..just enough to get by. Everybody wants to be on top and control shyt. The North & the South are still split, just not as violent as they once were. the screw culture popularized by DJ Screw has dwindled down and is mainly supported by mexicans. Not only that but the people trying to do the chopped and screwed style are fukking it up so bad, nobody wants to hear that shyt. I was told once Hawk was killed, it made it harder for dudes to not only unify, but to get together within the Screwed Up Clique. The local DJ's are more concerned with playing anything from anywhere else. Yeah they might run thru a little 15 minute set of Htown classics then it's back to the bullshyt. In fact, the DJs who get all the big events are not even from Htown, but Dallas, and at one time were more concerned with pushing that bullshyt swag rap more than any Htown sound. They don't even really support UGK like they should..maybe take it off, maybe let me see it..that's it. As I am not from here I did my research and it seems around the time the all-star game & the Super Bowl were here is when the city blew up rap wise..then fell off. Other people try to emulate the sound of Htown, while Htown is trying to sound like the ATL, before that Dallas. I was shocked to find out Scarface was basically a bytch. He wasn't going to confront Lil Troy, he wanted no issues with dude & said he was forced to put that music out about him. I was also told Lil Troy can box and would put hands on face. I can tell you Slim Thug is visible everywhere and doesn't seem to have any issues with anyone, but also doesn't want anyone outshining him either. I made ESG & Trae both seemed solid, as did C note of the Botany Boys, altho he didn't seem too concerned with the rap game anymore.

I always wished Dallas had a huge break through artist back then. The only ones I remember making noise back in the day was Nemesis with 'Munchies for your bass".

Then Ron C especially when he got out.

You could say the D.O.C. but he was kind of seen as a LA rapper.

troy n face relationship started in the 80s..rap-a-lot..n lil j tries their damnest to try n rewrite faces history..but its there..

troy was a local joker...music wise..but he was known in the streets kuz of the dope game.....80s..the place to be for rap in houston was a spot called the rhinestone wrangler...im tombout dj screw, dj premier, michael watts, a young ron-c..wicket kricket...rasheed..willie d..k rino...klondike kat...face(akshun)..big mello...lester roy rp cola...n a gang of other rappers from houston..gettin their start..

troy met face...word is face granny was gettin ready to commit him into a pysch ward kuz he was goin crazy..kuz he was suicidal...depressed and a victim of slaughter water...

troy took em in n had em in dead end..a young 3-2 had jus came up from louisiana...face 3-2 nem useta spend days upon days gettin wet and rappin..face ended up runnin with troy...hard

face came up with...
scarface-short-stop-records.jpg

on the cover rasheed n 3-2(light skin nikka with uzi) n a couple other cats are in it..

the song is about lil troy..troy fukked with it so much..he put it out..

with

as the bside

the nicklin dime stopped for face..now gettin a lil show money now..

he goes to rhinestone..n runs into lil j nem...j fukked with em..put face in the geto boys..n literally gave a fukk you to troy..when j red did the song scarface for the geto boy album

troy was pissed...charge it to the game..

came back harder with sittin fat down south.troy gave a big fukk u to lil when he had small time on that .which had the scarface sample...and ft 2low an ex rapalot employee who sued em n won..

troy speakin on songs with bun-colgate about his history..

face n troy was cool...no personal issues or nothin..face didnt even trip about the sample or the song that was featured..

troy rightfully owned...but j tried suing for the sample..n for using 2 of his artist..

j shoulda known if prince couldnt sue troy for the lil red corvette sample used for wanna be baller..nobody was gonna win..n prince dont let nobody really sample his shyt..

face started gettin checks from short stop...once the album took off...but lil j wasnt gettin his so he hot..

face n troy still didnt have no problem..troy gets locked up...comes home..him n face are featured in a movie 2gether.. dirty third pt 2 home sweet home...

rap alot started havin fed issues... face jump ship n head to new york..gets with def jam...j gets mad...started releasing compilations...with lost face songs.....n copy n past face albums..

face still get checks...mustve mentioned it around j...j put the battery in his back..to sue..because after the lil flip deal didnt go thru...face was kinda pissed...tried cease letters...nothing...threats..nothin troy didnt barre it..

so they dug up troys case n ran with the snitch shyt..troy did damage control in a interview..n said if he had to do it again..he would..

the snitch this n that in songs..didnt do shyt but build a case for troy to...sue...them..he did n won..and was clownin on the news with cut the check t-shirts..

troy did some diggin of his own..n found out face was tellin too..

pissed face all the way off...i think it was a combact jack interview...face went completely off like he was finna cry...everytime troy name comes up in anything dealin with face..he almost have a bytch fit..

5:42

troy snitch...but face gettin ready to rat on a nikka who ratted...

I used to hate that hate to go to work drop. I'm not even trying to be funny it was just annoying after a while. When Russ Par came to 100.3 Jamz, I switched stations. Russ was from Cali and down with NWA and had Bobby Jimmy and the Critters. :mjlol:

^That was actually a hit record. lol :mindblown: Russ Par and Alfedo as a team was one of the funniest things you could ever hear on the radio. Then they used to do a show where they would broadcast from a night club and it would be on tv. Dope! My sister was on there a few times. People would come up to me and be like 'I saw your sister and her man on there dancing.'

Greg Street was dope on K104 though when he came around. I remember when he played 'can you get away' by Pac he took a shot at him talking about 'but on thug life you was saying you aint had time for them'. I swear people used to hate on Pac for no reason. :pacspit: Yall got me remembering all kind of crazy ish.
