I used to go over to Cromwell (right on the water) to play ball just about every Friday night back in the day. I don't know if I felt it was racist, but me and the nikkas I was traveling with (black & boricua) understood that it probably wasn't the best idea to hang out there unnecessarily late.

If you're talking about bat weidling, loud mouthed Italians who don't want nikkaz walking around their areas like in A Bronx Tale...then no. I've been over plenty of the homes all over SI and met nice peopl, and I'm borderline Wesley Snipes complexion.

But if you want to move into their hoods...say like in Tottenville (very south of SI), you might encounter the look. Or if one of their daughters bring you home you might get the family looking at you with the look.

Funny; I just realized that all the time I lived in NY, I never really spent any considerable time in Staten Island, outside of going there to play ball or just passing through to NJ. One time those pigs towed my car in Brooklyn because of outstanding (supposedly) parking tickets, so I had to go to Downtown BK to pay the fine, and then when I asked where my car was, them nikkas had towed it to Staten Island...

It's basically New Jersey to me. When I cross the Goethals into Staten Island, I still felt like I was in some Jersey suburb. I don't get that NY feeling till I cross the Verrazano and touch down in Brooklyn...

This is me too. The only times I remember being in Staten Island was for a wedding and passing through to go to Jerz.

Is SI racist to blacks?

Whenever I used to ride the SI express buses, I didn't notice any.

I was a teenager too dressed in street clothes on a bus full of white collar workers.

I remember I ridden either the X23 or X24 and I was the ONLY black person on the entire bus!



I been to Tottenville a couple of times, one time I went down there some white kid asked me if I was a photographer, engaged in small talk, seemed to be a cool kid


Staten Island has a decent Black population... with some Hispanics here and there, damn near the entire North Shore is minorities, I remember riding the S74 bus and some nikka started punching the windows on the bus


Remember a group of nikkas just got on the bus though the front and didn't pay, just walked right on and took a seat, Driver was like and just kept driving along the route



Staten Island is wild man, one time I seen recently stabbed guy on the bus, and some goon nikka telling his war stories, all on the same ride
