I guess Eman wanted a guarantee he'd start on a prove-it deal....otherwise I wouldve paid him. This secondary is really young right now besides Gipson, and needs a lot of depth at corner.

I hope Wilks gets a say on whoever we get for the secondary in both FA and the draft, that's his specialty so I expect a step up in that unit

I watch Football and just dont go by hearsay like yourself. Darnold has alot of talent but has been on terrible teams. He never played with a decent Oline until last year, and coincidentally it was his best season although he only played 6 Games.

Darnold is going to be the starter at some point. Will it be to start the season? Trey is going to have the best Training Camp of his life to win out right. Shannhan isnt going to just hand him the job after he was so bad to start the season last year

Darnold is just like the rest of the USC QB's.....ASS! Stop watching football.

Trey doesn't get the same offense as the white QBs. People who watch Niner football sees this. If Shanny runs the damn offense normal for Trey like he did in the second half of the Texans game he'd blow bum ass Darnold out the water. Which isn't hard to do.

Eh to be fair I watched those Jets games and some of Carolina Darnold is a victim bad coaching. I wouldn't be surprised of part of the reason he was eager to come to us was because of Wilks. Darnold has legitimate talent and under OUR system and with coaches like Anthony Lynn and Brian Griese we can fix him.

Its still Treys job to lose, imo but its rare to have a guy with as much experience as Darnold and only be 25.

That is what is good about being a 49er. We don't need him to be. As long as when his number is called, he plays smart football we'll be fine. I think he will be capable depth QB with us.
