TNA has all the qualifications of any other major company.

actually more qualifications than some of the majors of the past.

If I remember correctly, Orlando officially came out after being released from WWE but before he was in TNA, during some shoot interview where he had this weird, spiky hairstyle. I doubt many people were aware of that, and most fans probably thought he actually came out during that weird TNA debut

By the time he went to TNA with the bi gimmick, it probably seemed more like just another weird gimmick to most people, rather than him actually using the gimmick to further confirm his real-life orientation. I think that's partly how he missed the boat in terms of publicity. I'm sure if he came out while in TNA and did it candidly and without the controversial stuff like Darren did, he would have gotten more attention (though not as much as a WWE wrestler would have). TMZ actually has covered a few TNA-related stories; they love wrestling-related stories for some reason

I'd also say him claiming to be bi instead of fully gay is also a factor. Some people don't take the idea of bisexuality seriously at all :yeshrug:

I remember Chris Kanyon announced that he was gay and he pitched a storyline to WWE & TNA as to be the first open gay wrestlernand was turned down. A month later Orlando showed up in TNA and Chris committed suicide

The majors of the past were all #1 SOMEWHERE. Every single one of them.

bad comparison. difference of eras.

its virtually impossible for TNA to be #1 in anything but quality. they came in the game in the midst of a wwe monopoly. by the time, TNA hit cable television, your average wrestling viewer knew nothing but WWE and weren't interested in giving anything else a chance.

but they did everything that a major is expected to do. that's what it all comes down to.

ROH tv gets higher ratings and gets higher attendance in like markets. Is ROH major?
