Hebrew Israelites

I'll paypal you or anyone else $1,000 if y'all can find me the combined term "Hebrew-Israelite" anywhere in scripture. Here's a hint, it doesn't exist.
Btw, @LionofJudah and @Disciple of the Projects .....

Can y'all show me where in the bible the combined term "Hebrew-Israelite" appears? I'll pay $1,000 to the first person who shows me.
Speaking of which @LionofJudah, can you show me in the bible where the combined term "Hebrew-Israelite" appears once? Cause I can certainly show you where Christian shows up.

That $1,000 offer still stands.

My god, you really are dense. Actually that's exactly it.

But I'ma let you come back in here and kick your ignorance so I can school you on how rules of grammar within differing languages and transliteration works, especially as it pertains to the languages of antiquity.

What does Jesus mean in Hebrew? transliteration is not a direct translation. It's distorted my friend.

Now let's sound out the words children...Yeshua and Joshua. WINNER!!!!

I wonder if any of you are fans of those hidden colors dvds.
If so, then I find this thread very ironic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transliteration
Transliteration is the conversion of a text from one script to another.[1]

For instance, the Greek phrase "Ελληνική Δημοκρατία" 'Hellenic Republic' can be transliterated as "Ellēnikē Dēmokratia" by substitutingGreek letters for Latin letters.

Lemme school you bruh..

In the case of the name Yeshua there was no "Yud" or Letter with a Y sound in Koine Greek. The closest sound was made by the Iota. Masculine names had the -us, s, os, ous case ending. Such as Alexander or Αλέξανδρος" (Aléxandros) vs it's feminine equivalent Ἀλεξάνδρεια (Alexandria). Moreover there was no Shin or "shh" sound in Greek, so the Greek sigma or S was used.

How did the Jews of the NT know how to transliterate the name so that Greek speakers could use and understand it? They used the Septuagint (The Greek translation of the Tanakh/Old Testament), which was translated by 70 hebrew scholars who had a thorough knowledge of both Hebrew AND Greek. Hence why the Septuagint is also referred to as the LXX or the 70.

In the Septuagint both the names of Yeshua (the high priest) and Yehoshua (Joshua) were transliterated as Iesous.

In other words, the name Iesous (rendered Jesus in our language) IS the name Yeshua IN KOINE GREEK, since Greek speakers could not PRONOUNCE the name Yeshua in their language or understand it to be the name of a man using the grammatical rules of their native tongue.

And if transliteration were a bad thing, neither the Apostles nor the Hebrew translators of the LXX woulda rendered the Hebraic names into the Greek language as best as they could.

Then again, they had no choice. Greek used different rules of Grammar than Hebrew.

Ahhh Yes......Yeshua was actually Jesus in another language. :comeon:

Exactly. Also, 'In the beginning, Adonai created......', should be, 'When Adonai began to create......' .

This is just one reason why the KJV is out-of-date and why the old dictionaries are valuable.

They don't even use the KJV in Religious Studies courses anymore since it's so inaccurate.

Don't bother. He won't understand that ANYONE who could actually read and write in the Roman Empire was educated in Greek/Latin regardless of where they were born within it in order to be citizens (like Paul). He also won't understand that the original Hebrew script had no vowels (they were added in the Middle Ages) and the recitation of the text relied on oral traditions.

Trying to explain the rules of grammar would be like teaching an orangutan how to solve a Rubik's Cube.
