After seeing how dope that Detective Pikachu trailer was, I'll give it a chance.

But yeah, I would've preferred a straight up animated/CGI movie rather than this live-action blend thing.

The difference is the Pokémon in Detective Pikachu are just textured versions of their cartoon selfs. This sonics silhouette looks way to human and nothing like it's cartoon/animated version.
