INfo on Global Recession when China is still eating and putting money in Africa and other countries. Only the WW2 Allies are in recessions if you noticed.

Not completely sure what you mean but in general it's a scares resource.
In general yes, but in a road warrior type of scenario that daze23 is referring to gold is as useless as t*ts on body armor, because trade based on any type of currency is impossible. Humanity would revert to a primitive barter system, where the only trade is between goods of similar utility for survival.(i.e: you give me a pistol and some ammo, I give you a pig and a basked of eggs)

it has some value because of it's conductivity and how malleable it is. but those properties don't have much to do with it's current worth, or it's potential as currency. much of it's worth is just based on arbitrary traditions. in that way it's not much different from paper money

You know what, I don't disagree with what you said. But you have to consider that banknotes can be printed at anytime. You don't have that luxury with gold since it's scares. So if one day these foreign markets look at your dollar as useless, they will most likely won't feel the same or as strong about gold because it retains value within there system.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid the barter system. It will never happen so no need to talk about it.

humans
Gold, diamonds, silver, etc are elements that have no inherent value except what we assign to it.

Reminds me of this scene in this Jacie Chan film I watched as a kid. They are all in the desert, thirsty as fukk but they still have some water left. They meet up with this dude who has bricks of gold but is dying of thirst, and he offers to trade all of his gold for a sip of their water.

the idea is not the destruction of society, but the introduction of a new currency and power system. So when order is restored, they trade in their gold for whatever the new fiat currency is, and maintain their power, while people like us fall deeper into debt slavery.

can you eat gold? can you make a fire with it?

what is it good for?

:childplease:

gold has value because humans across the earth agree it does, thats simple economics. gold has been a consistent medium of trade for thousands of years... so it's a virtual guarantee gold will survive the fall of the US economy.

How many of these people own actual bars of gold instead of just slips saying that they do?

there's still time to invest in paper gold, make a flip, then use the american currency to purchase something tangible, like land, before the dollar burns all the way to the ground

and everybody talking mad max are you insinuating a fail in the US economy will cause a worldwide mad max scenario? :wtb:

there may be pockets of mad max scenarios in pockets of metropolitan areas that are heavily populated and other random areas, but there will be plenty of locations inside the US as well as countries outside the US who will be unaffected and/or increase their quality of life as a result of our downfall. power is always redistributed in global politics, our loss is another countries gain.

i truly believe the only thing that had potential to cause global mad max was nuclear, but since i dont think nuclear weapons are a possibility for us anymore, i think a global mad max scenario is unlikely.
