:heh: lighter african americans, he is white, ffs.

and how will AA's abandoning the one drop rule push us towards whats seen in latin america? they fell victim to one drop rule as well, consistently trying to breed out blackness for the sake of light skin privilege.

but look at his parents... they aren't white

Like you, I don't agree with the 'one drop rule'.... but there are african americans who have a different skin tones yet we are all in the same group... Biracials, on the other hand, don't represent us at all...

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Biracials, on the other hand, don't represent us at all...

If he represents African-Americans positively and is an African-American, then yes.... he represents me...

....but if you're implying, "does he look like you".... no, he doesn't look like me...

I'm confused. His parents are obviously extremely mixed...maybe even biracial...

But somehow their son can represent you, but some one like Obama can't?

Butterfield was born and raised in a prominent African-American family inWilson, North Carolina, the son of Addie Lourine (née Davis) and George Kenneth Butterfield, both of mixed race.[1] Butterfield's father immigrated to the United States from Bermuda.[2]

Described by the Washington Post as an "African-American who appears to be white",[3] Butterfield acknowledges he has European as well as African ancestry, and that he identifies as African American. He has noted that he grew up on the "black side" of town and led civil rights marches.[4] He is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

But my question is what if 2 biracials have a child. Can that child represent you?

I'd feel more comfortable with the person raised by two biracial parents representing me rather than the person raised by one non-black parent..... :manny:
