Legendary Pictures developing supervillain heist movie
Get ready for a new twist on the superhero movie. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Legendary Pictures has picked up an untitled superhero heist movie from Chris Baugh and Brendan Mullin, the duo behind the Irish revenge thriller Bad Day for the Cut.

The superhero film has yet to be named, but the trade describes the plot as “being a subversion on the superhero genre in which a group of career criminals stage a heist on the lair of a superhero and must escape with their lives when everything goes wrong.”

As they did with Bad Day, Baugh will direct the picture and co-produce alongside Mullin. Bad Day for the Cut premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and earned stellar reviews.

Described as “a witty and ultra-violent thriller,” Bad Day for the Cut sees a mild-mannered farmer sets off on a bloody quest for vengeance after his elderly mother is murdered. As he tracks her killers through the criminal underworld of Belfast, he begins to realize that there was a darker side to his beloved mother–and to himself.

Nigel O’Neill (Game of Thrones), Susan Lynch (Waking Ned Devine), Józef Pawlowski (Jack Strong), Stuart Graham (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and David Pearse (Fifty Dead Men Walking) headline the revenge pic.

I would love for a supervillain heist movie or just a supervillain movie but problem is Hollywood tries to make them have redeeming factors.

Suicide Squad was marketed as the worst of the worst but none of them were really bad. Deadshot just wanted to make some money so he and his daughter could bounce. Diablo just wanted to be left alone. Harley was just crazy. The only one that was really bad was Boomerang but he was more a a$$hole than a bad guy and they even made him have redeeming qualities when he came back after he had a chance to escape.

If you do a villain flick make them despicable people with no redeeming qualities. I don't know if that would sell tickets though.

It absolutely wouldn't. Look at Infinity War. A company that at this point knows anything they drop will be a hit, felt the need to give the dude they've been building up as the big bad redeeming qualities. I'm convinced, from the way he was introduced in Avengers, that Thanos was originally going to have the same motives that he did in the comics.

The Other: "To challenge them is to court death":whoa:
Thanos: :shaq:

Instead we get a guy worried about over-population and this nikka is even crying over his daughter:gucci:Studios know if you're gonna make a movie based on the villain they can't be pure evil with no redeeming qualities. The audiences for these films can't handle that.

@MartyMcFly

what's your take on this..

like i said in the OP is just the Justice League episode Task Force X ..
its not quite suicide squad cause in the movie they didnt try to steal from the good guys... but we all know what this is

As always homie depends on the writer and the creative group behind it. I like the idea though. Villains stealing shyt from the hero. It could be like the superior foes of Spider-Man

I think he qualifies as a villain. Are there people with NO redeeming qualities? I don't think so.

If they had actually based suicide squad similar to the comics/cartoons and ACTUALLY had Batman more a part of it or Joker in more scenes it would’ve been better.

Actually, making it rated R would had it a lot more boring

That'd have to be 18+ rated. It'd probably have a lower budget cos of that limitation

They could if shown right. Dont give them redemming qualities but make it a us vs them instead of good vs evil. Like on The Originals. Klaus was the evilest dude out there yet he was the protagonist of the series and fans love him.
