Don't judge me, I listen to Pac and Scarface all day, so I don't know what is hot.

I want to know if I'm out of touch or do people really feel these southern rappers can be thought of as Elite mcs in the same vein as the past greats.

I think you have it wrong Habit. The burbs think whatever is one the radio and hot represents the cream of the crop.

It just so happens that a lot of southern rappers are in the limelight now.

The burbs are listening to Wayne,Drake,Nicki,Kanye,Jay-Z,Tyga,J COle,Big Sean type nikkas. The most popular street rappers are from the south (Future,2 Chainz,Ross,Jeezy,Gucci Mane) or have a southern influence on their style (Chief Keef). You got this one backwards. And it's 2012 nikka, sorry to say but nobody gives a fukk about that "elite mc" shyt anymore, if you can't make bangers you ain't poppin.

Boom bap is dead as the dodo. No one wants to hear super lyrical street tales from the east coast no more. Southern 808s and snares get parties poppin, as well as techno.

hip hop in da east is following history man, they got stuck on da boom bap and never evolved wit da times. Like shyt, its 2012 and its still jayz and nas runnin new york. ghostface comin out with another album wit his face covered on the cover art. and preemo still doin da same scratches on every beat.

new york hip hop is dyin jus like how berry gordon/motown and detroit died off runnin da rnb scene.
