Just read it. Personally don't like the writing. It isn't special. Her prose is inelegant, and contrived.

Reads like a white woman's tale of abuse in blackface. If she wanted to she could have made this relevant to the black community, instead she planted roots of suggestion. It's like Jap rape porn.

I don't agree on the blackface comment. I thought it was very relevant to the black community, but maybe it only seems that way to a particular segment of black females? I agree the writing was not the best, but as far as the story, I was really feeling it "I liked it"

Kinda, but not really. The boyfriend wasn't the problem in their relationship, I mean minus that fact that he should have not dealt with her in real relationship to begin with, but I take it he obviously didn't know that.

I just finished reading it but yea, you can say that. She's cold, unfeeling and thus becomes a self-sabateur. Many would argue that her demeanor ultimately stems from being raped staturtorily

The authour's writing is as cold and unfeeling as the character, so that may be by design.
