im not arguing whether or not he did a good or bad job as coach.

my thing is, how do you win coach of the month, then turn around and get fired weeks later?

you seriously dont think that they hurried up and fired him before this inevitable win streak that theyre on? obviously theres more than meets the eye here.

theres better teams who have had worst slumps this season. they wanted avery out of there as fast as possible.

If you had watched how they were playing, you'd understand. That's why nobody was really that outraged when he got the boot.

Even if they kept him and proceeded to beat some easy teams it wouldn't have mattered. I remember they beat the Magic at home and it was such an ugly win because they were up by so much and nearly blew another big lead at home. Him possibly winning these games wouldn't have made his job more secure or made fans less frustrated with him. Hell, who's to say they'd play the way they're playing now had he kept his job?

To want Avery out as fast as possible, there had to have been some incentive to do so. If you can't point it out, then there's nothing more to it then just him losing the team and losing his job because of it. How about this: what if he proceeded to lose some more?

how soon do we forget, im the one that created the class "if you could trade coaches" thread. and even way before that, i said from jump that this wasnt an avery johnson team.

this just doesnt sit well with a playa like me playboy.

So then it not being "an Avery Johnson team" him no longer being there shouldn't surprise you. What did you want the Nets to do if they kept playing the way they were playing? blow the team up and keep Avery?

In the pros, you build around the players. In college, you build around the coach.

He is an awful coach. It's really that simple. They thumped OKC in OKC too since they :birdman:

he wore out his welcome here in dallas. players get tired of avery thinking he's poppavich and that voice will wear you down.

i get tired of his voice in a 1 minute interview with him

All teams do this. If they decide they don't want a coach there anymore then they usually cut them at the most opportune time. They know if they fire him after a winning streak they will look much worse and fans will be in an uproar. Same reasons Lakers rushed to fire Mike Brown without a replacement. They knew the team had an easy stretch of games and would take a PR hit firing him while on a roll.

The team wasnt playing for him anymore. Those second half collapses were Giant-esque. Hell, they probably dont have this streak WITH him.

That's the thing. He's too much of a control freak.

they could have given him more of a chance.

like i said, better teams have already gone on worst slumps this year. nor did they have the run that the nets had in november.
