Or have him start pitching in may?
They look great future wise but ask the Mets in 06 playoffs aren't promised every year

exactly, it would serve them right not to play him and then they never make the playoffs his entire career again

Read up on the history of pitchers his age with his experience pitching more than 160 innings in a season that early into their careers

As good as their staff has been this season, I'm sure they'll be fine letting him take the rest of the season off. Have too much invested in him to take the risk.

Looking at his stats, more than half his starts have been only six innings. Handful are 7 and the rest are below 6. So its obvious they been controlling his pitch count all season. 6 innings per start and 160 total equals around 26 starts which is where he at now. With about 150 innings. Having him start later in season may help as well, but I'm sure he'll get more innings as his career progresses. I don't have any info on former Tommy John recoveries and the max innings they pitched. Like did any of them pitch more than 200 innings any season after surgery?

the window of success closes unbelievably fast for teams not named the yankees or red sox. the phillies "best rotation in decades" and "nl dynasty" talk lasted one fukking season until it turned to shyt. youve gotta give your best shot when you get a legit title chance, because it might not be there in the years to come. you just shyt on all the veterans on that team that might not get another shot at a title by shelving dude for the future. youre out of it? sure shut him down. youre the best team in the bigs? you go all out. this is his third season. take the kid gloves off and give it your best shot

His arm is fragile. The track he's on has worked well for Jordan Zimmerman.

If you're a fan of another team, you'd want the inexperienced Nats to waste his arm on an initial playoff run :manny:

its incredibly difficult to make the MLB playoffs. and once you do, anything can happen.

its also an arbitrary number of innings to shut someone down at. pitch count would at least make more sense.

good pitchers come out of nowhere....injuries happen out of nowhere. this guarantees NOTHING.

let that nikka pitch.

it sounds like to me the Nats would rather stay above average for multiple years than to win a championship, then possibly go back to shyt for a couple of years. its probably more lucrative to sell hope than to actually win a title. but i would rather my team win a title.

You better than this'

Thats because the Phillies surrounded thier pitchers with absolutle sh*t of a lineup thanks to the worst GM in baseball Ruben Amaro JR. That rotation has been nothing but excellent. Not thier fault the 25 man roster was never assembled properly

Roy Halladay, Hamels and Lee are putting up very good numbers this year and still have throughout their time in Philly. Theres still not a better 3 man rotation out there.

:stopitslime:

You make it seem like they are guaranteed a WS title if they keep Strasburg in the rotation. They have a plan with Strasburg and are sticking to it, especially after he just had Tommy John Surgery.

Whos selling hope. If Strasburg stays healtly for the next 5 years they have him until control, him + Harper are two players teams would kill to have as thier core.
