Gen. Thomas-Alexandre Dumas was one of the heroes of the French Revolution, leading armies of thousands in triumph through the snows of the Alps and the sands of Egypt. Today, he is almost forgotten, though he lives on in his son's stories. The son of a Haitian slave and a French nobleman, this mixed-race swordsman was the father of novelist Alexandre Dumas, and his adventures helped inspire The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.Tom Reiss' biography of the elder Dumas explores the real-life adventures behind these classic novels.

I'm reading this very book right now. TRULY AN EXCELLENT WORK!

It boggles my mind to learn how France essentially had it civil rights movement in the 1780's and 90's. :mindblown:

Even though they were a bit hypocritical getting money from slave colonies like St. Domain (modern day Haiti), while at the same time declaring that all men are equal under god and shyt during the revolutionary debates and such.

The book is does an excellent job of describing the achievenments of blacks in the French Revolution, as well as detailing the biographies of #blackexcellence during 18th century Europe.

read this book:
books

it deals with that exact contradiction of liberal thought (liberal in it's original meaning, not the word used by us conservatives to denounce everything slightly left of their extremist positions).

Strange that in some threads us mixed people are called c00ns or whatever and in other we become symbols of #blackexcellence.
maybe this is true.... but I haven't seen it. From what I know... only c00ns are called c00ns - if u happen to be mixed that's irrelevant cuz most of us have something else mixed in.

And this guy is a symbol of blackexcellence because he accomplished the shyt against all odds, and because he literally represents the white washing of history - From US people, to Nepolean, CACs tried had to white wash the story but the ghost of the black count shook off the salt from these crakkers and his story is coming out.

Well obviously I pay more attention to it. Sometimes we're denied the right to call ourselves "Black" (even though it's part of what we're mxied with), then brehs get mad when we say with what we're mixed ("You think you're special huh"), some say we're Cacs but don't have a problem celebrating Obama as a "Black" president.

And if I say that this is dude is a symbol of #mixedexcellence, brehs are gonna come shooting in here lol

Not going at you personnaly tho, just stating how some people are confused/hypocritical.

most of the c00ns on here aren't mixed.

also, you're the only one that can say what u are... nobody can tell u to not say ur black. Obama is black, but he's not a 'black president'

And if the monte cristo was mixedexcellence then that would be aight, but ... the people fearing him thought they were fearing a black man. Hes defined by his role as a hatian slave and African roots. People back then painted him as looking like the son off Sanford n Son... his dad was white, but his own father had to sale and buy him back as black property, sorta like a Thoroughbred black horse.

Descriptions of him included ... dark, very dark, Closer to ebony than bronze, brown skin thick lips and one of the most handsome men you could ever met... #blackexcellence because he took what life gave him and built on that.... made his circumstance his strength and used that to do his job effectively.

Yeah I know that breh, it's just that it takes its toll...in Central African Republic some called me "Whitey", in Belgium "Blackie", then some Black people get mad when I claim being part Black...and some get mad at me claiming being part White :patrice:

Just venting out here tbh:yeshrug:

Thats a story in a video game which is not reality, friend.

. This is a human being that actually existed, fighting to destroy his people. Thats demonic, friend.
actually, he refused to take the command of the troops going to haiti to destroy his people. he fought for the ideals of liberty and equality. i'm not one to glorify soldiers, but his achievements are still remarkable.
