So Stone Cold had severe neck issues before Owen and was looking for time off?

Not my recollection just something I found from R3ddit
I remember Stach writing quite a few times about the Owen-Austin situation, and according to him a few things should be acknowledged:

1) Austin had severe neck issues beforehand. A few weeks prior he received a clothesline to the back from Shawn Michaels and experienced temporary paralysis caused by the impact.

2) There was an order from the WWF office that the inverted piledriver should be done by dropping to the knees by no one else than the Undertaker. All other wrestlers should perform it the way Owen did in the Summerslam match. It's hard to believe that Austin (especially while being close with JR) didn't know about that.

3) Owen was very skeptical about the spot when they were first going through the match. He told Stach (Edit: Maybe he told Davey or anybody else that day, it ended up with Stach knowing about it though) that he's afraid Austin is pulling off some bullshyt to get a few weeks off. Owen knew about Austin's neck issues, he was unsure if his neck could take the pressure and feared that Austin could use something like that to fake an injury. According to what Owen told Stach, it was Austin insisting that they do the piledriver spot despite the risks.

4) Owen told Stach that the move itself was done correctly. He had Austin properly locked and didn't let him slip or anything. Stach wrote that he once saw Owen hit Fit Finlay with a piledriver on the concrete floor in the CWA and Finlay had no issues whatsoever. Owen knew how to do the move, he would have known (and presumeably admitted) if something went wrong and therefore he was certain that he didn't make any mistake. I guess that's the reason why he didn't reach out for Austin more than he did. Because he would have admitted a fault that he felt wasn't his. Owen told Stach that of course he felt bad about the situation, but considering the above, he didn't feel guilty of the injury either.

Again, this is just a recollection of what Stach wrote in Power Wrestling back then and I can't guarantee you that it's the truth. However I highly doubt he would have lied about what Owen told him or not.
:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:
bolded the important parts, so how do you feel brehs ?

Lol that's retarded. "Hey guys, I have a severe neck injury, maybe I should let someone drop me directly on my head so I can get some time off and cut my career short by a decade and have to take a year off when I'm at my maximum earning potential lol oh hell yeah".

Just random Reddit shyt. They completely make up stories all the time there.

Yeah cause Austin totally wanted to take a severe neck injury on purpose :comeon::comeon::comeon:

How the fukk you gonna try and put the blame on someone who could have been paralyzed? :dahell:

I just think maybe there's something there as Martha Hart (yeah I know) name dropped Stach from this wrestling magazine and led some credence to the fact maybe Austin was already injured beforehand :manny:

It was hard to take time off back in the day (manny)

Except Austin didnt take much time off.
Austin was just getting it going...him having to take time off was the worst thing that could happen...which is why he was still doing shows injured even though he wasn't wrestling. Don't you remember the interviews on his ranch and him with the neckbrace. He was back kickin ass like a month later....and back in the ring by Survivor Series wrestling. That explanation is ludicrous b.

good memories tho.

Yeah, Austin never took time off. He didn't WRESTLE, but he was still all over the shows, doing all the traveling, and doing even more promo work. When he "came back" to wrestling, he was only in very short matches where he took maybe one bump at the most and was noticeably out of shape. Totally normal behavior for someone faking an injury.

There had to easier ways of getting time off in 1997 than risking being wheel chair bound or worse for the rest of your life. He's a smart guy, if he was ever gonna take time off I don't think summer 97 woulda been when he'd have planned it as he was heating up something crazy.

Every time I see that pile driver I'm amazed Steve regained use of his lower extremities that night.

Between this and the recent pedo allegations from an EX-WIFE :comeon:....y'all been trying extra-hard to shyt on Austin lately :mjlol:

We all know he beats women, and is most likely a bigot on the low. Let's just leave it there until further receipts are produced......

He did have neck issues, and he repeatedly told Owen before the match to take care of his neck. He didn't.

This.

Austin repeatly asked Owen to drop to his knees, and Owen agreed.

My theory is that Owen was known for pulling pranks. And since Austin was so concerned, he hit the jump. It was a rib gone wrong :patrice: Austin literally lost out on millions after being injured.
