You’re exactly why dude said fukk the press :martin:

Dude just said the song wasn’t fake or meant to be symbolic :camby:

MUSICIAN: Let me start off with the question, to me at least. Dirty Mind seems to be the antithesis of what sex should be. Or is it? Why was that album called Dirty Mind?

PRINCE: Well, that was kind of a put-on. . . I wanted to put it out there that way and in time show people that’s not what sex was about. You can say a bad word over and over again and sooner or later it won’ t be bad anymore if everybody starts doing it.

MUSICIAN: Are songs like “Head” and “Sister” serious or satiric?

PRINCE: “Sister“ is serious. “Head” could be taken as satire. No one’s laughing when I’m saying it so I don’t know. If people get enjoyment out of it and laugh, that’s fine. All the stuff on the record is true experiences and things that have occurred around me and the way I feel about things. I wasn’t laughing when I did it So I don’t suppose it was intended that way.

Like I said, it doesn't say anything is true there at all. It's "experiences", "things that occurred", and "the way I feel about things".
And the whole album was to show was sex was not about. :skip: This is why you don't cherry pick quotes.

But like I said, if everything on that record is true, who is that virgin that he married on "Head" when he didn't get married in real life until 1996? :skip:

". All the stuff on the record is true experiences"

:dahell:

Whose experiences?
Remember when I met you, Baby,
You were on your way to be wed.
You were such a sexy thing,
I loved the way you walked, the things you said.
I was so nonchalant.
I didn't want you to be misled.
But I got to have you, Baby.
I got to have you in my bed.
You said, "I'm just a virgin and I'm
On my way to be wed.
But you're such a hunk,
So full of spunk,
I'll give you"
Head. Til you're burning up.
Head. Til you get enough.
Head. Til your love is red.
Head. Love you til you're dead.
You know you're good, girl.
I think you like to go down.
You wouldn't have stopped but
I came, on getting down.
You said, "I must confess
I want to get undressed
And go to bed."
With that, I changed.
You fool, you married me instead.
Now, morning, noon, and night I give you
Head. Til you're burning up.
Head. Til you get enough.
Head. Til your love is red.
Head. Love you til you're dead.
Ahhh!
Oooh yeah. Oooh yeah. Oooh yeah.
Head. Head. Head. Head.
Oooh. Ahhh!
Head. Til you're burning up.
Head. Til you get enough.
Head. Til your love is red.
Head. Love you til you're dead.
I know.
Head. Head.
I know.
Head. Baby, Baby, Head. Oooh.
Head. Oooh. Head. Ooooh.
Head. You just said I could. Head. I'm good.
Head.

Yea the trauma so many black male celebrities go thru needs to be made in a documentary cause there are some completely wild stories out here, my mind was blown when I found out Birdman was supplying Cash Money heroin as kids n havin em fukk grown women :dahell:
Idk what it is but I truly believe a lot of black male entertainers went through the same thing.

I just feel like when you have your innocence taken from you, it does something to you.

A lot of these dudes chose to devote themselves into their passions and seek fame/reputation like madmen

Maybe it’s some deep subconscious shyt about wanting to be heard

Then again, I can’t say for sure if they were already on that track and happened to be molested, or if that experience is what led them to devote themselves into their craft :patrice:

I can see how this would cause confusion. I'll explain how the song came about later.
Prince lied to the press ALOT. Especially in the early years of his career.
He used to tell the press he was mixed.
He said him and Andre Cymone used to run hoes in Andre's basement.
He told them that he never listened to Jimi Hendrix.
In one interview, he said used to bike ride nude.
He swore Jamie Starr (his production alter ego in the early 80's) was real.
He said he was going to re-record his entire catalog since he couldn't get his masters.
He said Morris Day was the one who fired Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
The Time, in and of itself, was a lie. In the studio, The Time was just him and Morris.
That's off the top of my head, there's a lot more.
In later years, he said that he went hard with the sex stuff because he knew it would get him attention.
He even told Chris Rock that "there was some acting" involved with his early persona.
Matter of fact, he was being interviewed in the early days and he gave an answer so outrageous that him and the reporter busted out laughing.
He asked the reporter to not print that and let him get back into character.

you drown yourself in whatever you think people perceive as your worth, because that "worth" is all people care about.... and not "you" the person.
