WWE is often reticent to rely on wrestling continuity, but your idea actually helps fans to "forget" that Ryback is a bum.
Many won't remember how he got run through by the Shield. They'll only remember that he feuded w/ Cena and that he's now joining forces w/ their hero to beat the unbeatable.

If I had to book out of this hole I would have Cena approach him and congratulate him on a hard fought match and then Ryback actually shakes Cena's hand and later helps Cena out from a Shield attack or some shyt.
Badabing, you have a face Ryback again and you can slowly rebuild him after that. Have him feud with Curtis Axel for the IC title eventually, and then the World Title after that.
