Black and African do not go hand and hand. There are black people in India and Australia who have no connection to Africa. And they've still yet to provide concrete proof to support this out of Africa theory.
So how are they Africans? They may be black, which tells you nothing about them but that their skin is some shade of brown. It does not describe a cultural identity or a ethnos.
They would not know what black is because they have never described themselves as such. Its an exonym. But Im all for them wanting to galvanize around the idea of blackness, as a counter to how the Anglo-Saxons and other Deutsch peoples have spread and organized globally themselves around the idea of whiteness.

I'm black. I never considered myself African. I have no ties nor connection to Africa. That's why I never liked the term "African-American".
The real question is.... who is she? 
Everyone has ties to Africa, you just do not know yours as a result to Slavery.

You need to let those in the Pacific Islands and Australia know. To say they migrated from Africa to many Aborigines will cause some problems. BTW, many of them look just like us here in America and they do not identify with Africa nor Black.
