Some folks are in deep denial about RG3. Got themselves convinced that the boy is really gonna come back by week one after his second knee surgery "stronger than ever".

I just love it how all you guys are now experts on anything really, but in this case from casual internet surfer to Dr.James Andrews Jrz

Chris Paul had ligaments removed completely, not repaired in his knee (MCL)

Brandon Roy had 6 surgeries in his knee.. is playing on bone and bone.
He didn't make it all the way back, but my point is he is required to do a lot more running, jumping/etc. And he was able to play at a high level for a few years. RG3 is in much better shape all around, and puts less work on his knees than Brandon would.

But what it comes down to is how he rehabs. If he makes his knee strong enough afterwards, old problems won't return. If you doubt he'll put in the work, just say that. Othewise :umad:

As a former NFL player and an orthopedic surgeon, Mark Adikkes is acutely aware of the painful rehabilitation that lies ahead for Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III after his successful knee surgery last week.

In a Fox Sports column the other day, Adikkes offered insight as the surgeon who performed RGIII’s 2009 anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and someone who has consulted with the Griffin family although he was not involved in last week’s surgery. When he speaks of the pain a knee injury, he does so first-hand — he twice had surgery as an athlete at Baylor and in the USFL. Adikkes, a lineman, went on to a successful NFL career and won a Super Bowl with the Redskins. As he has said in interviews, he writes that he isn’t concerned about RGIII’s ability to play again the way he did before. “He handled his first setback by leading Baylor to its first 10-win season in decades and winning the Heisman Trophy,” he writes. “I believe this second hurdle will inspire an equally impressive conclusion to a long and stellar NFL career.”

As for the surgery last week and what lies ahead, Adikkes writes:

The surgery that Dr. James Andrews performed was a repair of his LCL, a revision reconstruction of his ACL and a repair of his medial meniscus. All three surgeries are significant when done alone. When done together, they comprise a major surgery that leads to an extremely painful and arduous recovery.

Because Robert’s patellar tendon in his right knee was used to perform his initial ACL reconstruction the patellar tendon in his uninjured left knee had to be used to create a new ACL. This means the pain he will have to withstand will be doubled and nearly equal for both knees. Although fully informed prior to surgery, he was hopeful that a lesser procedure would be sufficient to allow him to recover.

His parents told me that upon awakening, feeling the searing pain in both knees, he was immediately alerted to the extent of his injury and the magnitude of his surgery. The disappointment had to be immense.

Adikkes goes on to say that there’s no question in his mind that RGIII will be good as new next season. As for RGIII himself, he was back on Twitter on Saturday after a three-day absence:

What are you fukking slow :what:
He'll be back and everything you are questioning, is reality. What part of "modern medicine has advanced" do you not understand :yeshrug:
Those types of injuries are not career threatening anymore.
Can somebody have an ACL or whatever injury and not recover to be as good or better as before?
Depends on a lot of factors, I'm sure you know NONE of them. So I'll give you a quick briefer...

1.) Depends on how much damage and what type of damage is done. RG3 is in the clear in regards to that question. Thanks for asking

2.) When you get it worked on

3.) What type of Rehab and how much effort is put into rebuilding/strengthening that knee. You do it right, it'll be stronger than EVER
This is a 2013 FACT!!!

4.) Who works on it. Rg3 had his shyt fixed immediately, and by the best in the world to do it.
When your best friend blew his ACL out in 1995, thats not the same thing RG3 is going thru now almost 20yrs lafter is what I'm saying.

I'm no expert, but you guys are not only not that. But your talking like you are because your in fear of what RG3 can do to your favorite team.
You thinkin putting on a doctors Avi makes you idiots qualified to speak on this... at all? In the slightest :stopitslime:
Now when actual doctors speak on it?...
Keep on bruhs. :skip:
Apparently it doesn't matter. RG3 Haters happen to moonlight as surgeons when they not too busy hating on here :dead:

The D (where it's so cold)
I was trying to remember if there were any NFL players that actually played with a bone on bone knee condition and how productive they were. I have no question RG3 will recover from 100% but having to constantly plant on that knee to throw seems like it would take a toll equal to Brandon Roy's.:manny:

While there injuries are totally different :hula: Your saying standing still and throwing a ball is equal to running back n forth for 40mins straight
Jumping to shoot.. Jumping to rebound.. jumping to block a shot
Having to play defense and move side to side.. trying to stick speedy players like John Wall

All that is easier on the knees than standing in the pocket? Or maybe sprinting for a few yards before you can stop again and take close to a full minute break :dwillhuh:

I'm not understanding the comparisons to Brandon Roy. Roy had degenerative arthritis in his knees. They were disappearing no matter what. RG3 physically injured his, big difference.
