I got that in the 50. No complaints so far. Probably keep it for another year and then get an LED or newer Panny.

Panasonic has been great for years..price point is good too...i really dont like the "soap opera" picture look some samsungs have

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P55ST50-55-Inch-Plasma/dp/B00752VKSC]Amazon.com: Panasonic VIERA TC-P55ST50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV: Electronics[/ame]

pretty much universally considered the best price to performance set out right now.

between a vt30 (last year's model) and an st50 (this year), most reviewers give the st50 the edge.

Big 3DTV's are extremely expensive. If you're looking for something with a better price try a DLP 3DTV. My pops just got a 82inch Mitsubishi 3DTV for 1800$. No complaints, the 3D is incredible on the movies that have good 3D transfers like Avatar, Prometheus, and all the Pixar movies.

the soap opera look is because of the refresh rates.. most tv's have options to turn it down.

Sooo......the v series vs. the s series sounds like the final battle (I'm guessing), what puts one over the other?

Sensitive_Blake_Griffin What is a DLP 3DTV?

And are there any LED 3D TVs that compete with this Panasonic series? My Dad may want to go with something that consumes less power, though it may not matter since nobody would be watching that TV much anyway (nobody really watches the TV he has in his living room now)

EDIT: reading about panel burn-ins, poor sound quality and HORRIBLE customer service and warranty with Panasonic series :to:

The ST series is NOT the S series. The ST model was linked.

And if you're pops isn't going to be playing games for hours straight on the TV there isn't anything to worry about burn in wise.

You must be new to this, there is no perfect TV and for every one you look up there will always be a crop of people shytting on it.

New as hell, I don't care about technology advances now-a-days because a better version of it always seems to follow it 6mo-year later :ld:

The Samsung 8000 is a dope TV. Has 3D but also comes with Smart Features, Built in camera for motion control and voice control. You can actually play Angry Birds on it like u were using a kinect.
