I keep telling everyone that I'm not participating this year, or that they'll have gifts brought from BO stores...it's just weird because you just assume that black folks actually watched The March/heard about it but the majority don't seem to really care or even know 
Is Western PA that far from NYC. Coming from DC at most it takes me 5 and a half.
Not really cause im taking the bus. Driving there from the burgh it honestly takes a little under 6 hours.

I grow tired of "Black folk need to stop..." crowd forgetting that we're American (b*stard children, yes), also. And will more than likely participate in American tradition.
Though, I agree with @1984 our economic consequences are different.
The problem is the lack of nuance in the idea that Black Friday shopping is problematic and there being no clear outline (Point A [don't shop] to Point Z [black liberation???]) on how this helps us get anywhere.
We (young black people) also have an entitlement/pride issue...

The organization of boycotting is a very basic step to progression and we can't leap forward and tackle more "complex issues" without discipline.

Most of those Black Friday items are specifically made for Black Friday
...Meaning There's a reason why they are marked down so significantly
Not only that but you can get most the items for the same price the week before Christmas when retailers try to get rid of their Christmas inventory.
There is literally no reason to take part in Black Friday other than being a part of a "social event" and practicing a "thanksgiving" tradition which is irony in itself
