it's actually OBVIOUS why typical rap fans arent talking about him -- THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF HIM YET. He didn't come up thru the Rap game circuit, never paid dues here, never built his buzz up with us. Not saying he didn't pay dues at all, but he just didn't pay em with us, -- he handled that inside his own market.
& his market -- Christian Rap -- is the people that bought all those records.
that's like saying Jun Syeun Li sold 230,000,000,000 records, & he is rapper! how yoo idiots not aware!!??! Well, because he's all the fukking way in Korea & they dont market him here. Christian Rap for the past 20 years might as well have been Korean. They're both strong healthy insular scenes, but they're firmly their OWN market that didn't really even attempt to cross-over.
Lecrae is finally changing that approach & pretending to not be a "Christian Rapper" anymore, at least at first glance. & It's a real good move, & people will start buzzing. I checked his shyt out, seemed boring tho. In my opinion K.R.I.T. pulls that balance shyt off perfectly, but the "Christian Rap" community probably isn't as aware of him for the same reasons we weren't really aware of Lecrae -- K.R.I.T SHOULD HANDLE THAT THO, HIT THE MEGACHURCH FESTIVALS or whatever, get that christian fanbase behind him on the hush hush.
They probably wouldn't actually support him tho. they'd hear the other side of his "balance" on the album & get offended & try to ban him or something.
