I've practically been homeless since July so If you need some advice I could help.

Just to put you on.

I rented a attic from a weirdo on craigslist. He took the liberty to act a fool so I addressed it. Didn't have enough save so I bounced with no plan, practically no money and little connects.

What I did.
Signed up for a gym membership and rented a locker.
Literally, I visit everyday, lift ( which is crazy, my gains have been amazing and Im in the best shape I've been in since I was 21-I'm 27)
I do what I have to do when I get there ( the 3 s's shyt, shower, shave)
I bought a bus ticket for the month ( I dont have a car so...) Best thing I could do. Where I'm at, the busses never stop so sometimes, I just ride out and get some sleep ( 2 hours)
Cheap eats (PBJ, Tuna, rice)
I just try to make the best of it, but 'm optimist which keeps me somewhat saine.
Hang out at the library, do as much research as possible. Constantly challenge yourself to learn new things.

if you need any more advice hit the pm

CHICAGO
almost got towed last night by some butterbean looking ass CAC for parking in apt with restricted parking :whew:

bout to stick with hotels and beach lots from now on :shaq:

since, I don't know the landscape in cali.

I really will not be of much assistance to you.

I will tell you,.....

-get the addresses for the shelters in nice neighborhoods and park your car, on their block.
inquire about shelfter,..if they don't give you a bed...
park on their block.

go to the aid office, and be the first in line on Tuesday without fail.
this country actually does work, and give out handouts.
you just have to be there as the first guy in the early days of the week.
in Chicago, it is Tuesday.
-go to the aid office in either the poorest or the most richest segregated neighborhoods.
as the wait time will be lower because no one is being serviced.
as either everyone in the neighborhood already has benefits.
or, everyone in the neighborhood does not have any needs for them.
which means it is no wait for you.

-go to the cali housing authority, for shelter.
well if one of these exists........

-find a college type area, to chill in at late night.
the fastfood places stay open late, and it has people of your age and type.

-be salesy and don't be scared to hear as many NO's as you can get till you get a yes.
even, if it makes you crazier...
you have to continue to try to make it.

god bless, you.....

I wish you all the luck in the world!!!!
I really hope you make it,....I mean for real.

The Truth
back in Aug our lease was up so me and my old roommate road tripped to san diego and that nikka ended up moving in with his fam, leaving my ass hanging

it was cool at first cause its cali but now im starting to lose my mind brehs :to:

i got a job but im basically living paycheck to paycheck, should i commit dat?
If you say "commit dat" I assume you man crimes...

Don't do that. I mean, you could but I wouldn't.

like most people say, join the service bruh. fukk studying for the asvab, if you're smart enough to type online in complete sentences then you can AT LEAST get into the Army.

You said you tried to join the Coasties? You were aiming to high breh breh, you got to be damn near perfect to join the Coasties or Air Force. Try to get into the Army, Navy at the most. Marines isn't bad either, just make sure you don't get brainwashed and PICK A GOOD JOB. No matter what branch you in, if you pick the right job your career might be :banderas:. Technical rates, administration, whatever. Or pick whatever it is you're good at.

Or do reserves, it's a 2 year active contract I believe. You get to stay in cali too I think, you'll get paid for 2 years (to stack up), get money to pay off loans, etc.

And if you got college degree, even better. Go officer and live the cake life (from the military standpoint at least). Military is ALWAYS the last resort IMO...but it looks like thats where you are at. Make sure you go in shape though, the hardest part of the military is taking peoples shyt and running... oh and possibly getting killed but thats why you pick your job wisely if you not about all that :violent:

Everywhere...You never there.
To the OP stay strong...many greats have been temporarily homeless or have been itinerant at some point in their lives.

This thread should be renamed to the "Survival tips of how to endure Homelessness with dignity."

*Hygiene - Other posters have stated the incredible idea of getting a free membership pass to a gym. Shower there. Some churches and schools also have showers. Don't catch a trespassing and/or indecent exposure charge, tho.

*Food - Go to the complimentary breakfast at nearby hotels. Samaritan Soup Kitchens, Churches. Shouldn't be too hard to get at least one good meal a day. Hit up Dollar Tree.

*Entertainment - The Library is your best friend. HVAC, free Web, books, information on new opportunities & nearby events where food is available. There's enough there to keep you engaged.

*Washing Clothes - Assuming you have a little money, the local laundromat should do.

*Formal Support Services - Hit up your local Dept. of Social Services

*Shelter - Plenty of free shelters out there, but often the environment can be tough to deal with because -- depending on the type of shelter -- the hardcore, career homeless and addicts occupy them. If possible, research the shelter before you stay there. Often a waiting list to get in them, too.

You could always rent out a storage unit, and stay in there if you can't find any shelter in harsh weather conditions. HVAC in there, and it's a roof over your head. Some storage units are a low as 12.99-15.99 monthly and you pay on a per month basis.

When you can, try to go to a lot of free events. Not only is it a good getaway with food, but you can network too.

Join a church, too. Regardless of what people think about religion, the congregation at the church is supposed to be in the business of helping. And you have an opportunity to continue to mature in faith.

3 words....
fat white girl.

As much as I despise saying this... you're right. :snoop:

I really think niccas look at overweight white girls as winning lottery tickets. At some point, survival takes hold, and that gigolo mode might be a viable option. Ideally, you should really care about the woman, tho. And ride with her even after you come up. That would be honorable.

are you working?

Yes and No. At the moment I'm finishingg up at internship with a non profit in the area and volunteering which makes it tough to find/keep a job. I turn to temp jobs. I was working a temp job that basicallgy said " if you can't come in at the drop of a hat and work 16 hour days we dont want you." That shyt didnt last long.

I'm in college so the little bit of school money help, but that shyt never last long.

Unfortunately this is illegal. I already looked into that
