I've been doing it for 2 weeks and I've followed the guide increasing the weights each time.

Now my main focus is to lose weight. I've lost 5 lbs according to the scale but I don't really notice any changes .

Now do I do cardio on the off days? I do cardio 20-30 mins before my workout then I do light walking/jogging for 10 mins after my workout . But is this sufficient ?

I'm assuming I have to do a lot more??

What your diet lookin like breh?

Tbh I've cut down on junk food and pop but during the weekend since they're my off days I kinda pig out.

Those are the days I also smoke and drink as well. So I do know I gotta fix my diet but it's so hard :to:

Fixing those vices will go a long way in helping you lose weight. Counting your calories is half the battle.

On your cheat days eat bad food, but try to keep your portions under control still. Like if pizza is your thing, don't eat a whole pie just because you can, stick to 2-3 slices. If you eliminate your cheat days altogether or just "cheat" better (eat a burger but stay in macros) you'll find it makes a world of difference. If you get the diet in check everything will come together but don't beat yourself up if you fukk up a few times. It's a lot of trial and error involved. If sweets are your weakness and you like to cook, play around with baking using protein powder.

1. 2 weeks of anything ain't shyt...don't give up. Progress IS there even if it's not drastic.

2. Lifting is only 20% of the equation. Your diet is the other 80%.

Yes, "fixing" your diet is hard. I found it easiest to do it slowly...i.e. cut out one major vice/diet killer every week or so. Eventually you get used to eating healthier.

Also, eat clean 6 days a week and allow yourself a "cheat" meal or day. Don't go crazy or anything, but doing this will help your cravings the rest of the week.

if you successfully up the weight for the entire 3 months, other routines will start being better with your newfound strength.
:ohhh:

Thanks breh :salute:

I'll keep that in mind a few months from now :shaq:

I hate using the word "diet" but I try to cut out any cream sauces, sweets, etc if I'm trying to lose weight - and try not to eat as much red meat. I just indulge once a week like HHR said. For me cardio has always been the key to losing weight over diet though - it's an individual thing. I commend you for being able to do it BEFORE strong 5x5's. I always have to do that shyt afterwards. But like posters are saying - keep it up for a bit - then adjust. If you find you have to do more cardio after a good while, then do that.

Keep doing 5x5 SL until you start plateauing on squats. To be honest, that's normally 3 months.

5x5 in general is a great workout. There's different types and days/splits but the basis is strong. I suspect i'll spend a portion of every year doing some type of 5x5.

I've found it easier to do this on the weekends by incorporating intermittent fasting. That way I can indulge somewhat but still have had the benefits of a 18-22 hour fast.

what kind of foods should i be eating?

i don't have time to count calories. i'm a full time student and also have a full time job. I don't have a lot of time to cook (maybe 30 mins max).. I need some light recipes that will get me full and also help me lose weight.

Any suggestions?

Read the stronglifts site back to front. Has some decent meal recs, tells you what you should aim at for strength as a minimum.

Anyone know any other great strength building programs? 4-day split.
