So to summarize this thread OP went to a not poppin restaurant in a gay area.If you go out almost anywhere in Houston you will see mixed couples but for the most part black men and women are together in Houston. We dont beef with Mexicans too tuff so its more Black and Hispanic to me then black and white.

Steakhouses: Eddie Vs, Killens, Steak 48, Papas steak houses, Del Friscos, and Perry's are all excellent

Soul food: Turkey leg hut, Miki's sould food cafe

Barbeque: Papas Barbeque, Demeris, Drexlers, Burns Barbeque

Seafood: Eddie V's, Oceanaire, Papadeauxs are all great

Tex Mex - Papasitos, Escalantes, Cyclone Anaya's are all great

It always seems like in the discussion of restaurants in southern cities, folks always bring up chain restaurants. Eddie V's, Steak 48, Del Frisco's, Perry's...are all chains. Are there any good steak houses that are organic to Houston?

None of those are better than Steak 48 or Eddie V's sorry. Marcs was overrated as hell also, hence it closing.

If you're a meat snob, then Killen's kills them all by a country mile as its the only place with a distinct variety of rare meats on the menu. I personally feel Steak 48 has the best overall steaks though.

Marcs went under because the owner had a stroke and couldn’t run the place anymore, Killens is good. Steak 48 for was mediocre just like Eddys. Wife had a good time so that’s all the matters

Blue cheese crusted prime rib eye with asparagus. Side of beet salad and crab fried rice. Wifey had the Texas red fish with jumbo Lumb crab. Kiddos has Mac and cheese and fries.


Overall excellent meal.

Killens, and Papas Steakhouse’s are organic to Houston. Steak 48 got famous in from Houston so…

Upper Kirby area is definitely one of the richest parts of town and home to a lot of great venues and restaurants. Going to get a spot in that area soon
