Chemistry and defense. Amare is trash defensively but his athleticism gets him some blocks and rebounds atleast. Without a solid starter at PG the relationship between Melo and Dirk would ruin the team. It took Amare until this postseason to finally have a serious issue about touches.

both of their defense is trash. they average the same amount of rebounds.

offensively, amare is not even in the same league as dirk.

Team would be better but still flawed. Better spacing and offense, but with a better bench and lockdown pg the team would be a championship level team.
