I've just accepted that this will never happen, and that as long as blacks make music, whites will steal, copy, and pass it off as their own. Hell, rock music used to be super black, now when you think about it you can only think about white people (and Jimmy). Rap is gonna be the same way eventually.

It makes sense, most white people love ironically using black slang, but they don't actually like black people. It's just easier to have a white artist that that "acts black" so you can enjoy the music without having to listen to a "thug"

They have the largest demographic so they will always commoditize and whiten everything

That's not the issue, more so, is it possible for us to create a new genre of music? I'd say no because White people are "meta" and aware of Black American prowess for creating music and with that new awareness, they'd cash grab any innovative thing we came up with..

The Internet has integrated us all and White people have access to our culture in a way they wouldn't back in the day unless they went to our hoods, parties, music stores, etc

True. They probably read websites like this one to get an idea of how black people talk/behave/act when they're not around.

I mean, honestly there is no reason why we can't just stay with hip-hop. I think that's one thing that blacks should have done back in the 60s-70s is stay making great rock music. Don't let them push us out

this ties into the "what is white culture" thread.

white people in America have no culture but they have the finances to completely take over someone else's culture and pass it off as their own, and they have the patience to do it subtly so by the time they've moved all the right chess pieces in the right places, it's far too late for the actual creators of the culture to do anything.

I'm at the point where I don't fukk with hip-hop, we literally have ZERO ownership of it, we just create and sell to the highest bidders.

Chief Keef's music was amazing before he signed to Interscope, now all of his efforts and talents are spent trying to recreate the first "Bang" mixtape, because that was untainted, raw, independent music.

I always say "it's time to say fukk hip-hop and create something totally brand new" but at this point it's like, what for?

they're gonna infiltrate that too, they'll study it, begin to write about it in popular "urban" magazines and control the narrative, they'll begin to reproduce it using white artists, and "urban" magazines will fawn over them and give them endless flattering coverage/promo, and they'll take over.

:wow:

fukk it. I'm at the point where I just listen to meditation music on Spotify radio.

Got to make money to eat and live. Nobody at the core wants to be a starving artist, especially when you are THE underclass group:yeshrug:

I feel ya bruh (especially the bolded). It's like we can't have shyt to ourselves in this country without them trying to take it away...then tell us how to feel and think about it after the fact. Way too many culure vultures in the game nowadays and it just makes me not even want to be involved anymore.

It's like we pigeonholed ourselves with hip-hop and r&B...and shytting on other black people for making music outside of the box for being "sell outs".

Even look at how Kanye dropped Yeezus...and because it wasn't the traditional hip-hop album people on here are calling him Koonye and stuff (that's besides if they actually liked that album).

It makes me wish that more black people actually decided to make other engaging types of music outside of hip-hop and r&b. The sad thing is that there are just way too many black Americans that are just brainwashed to believe that anybody that's black that's making music outside of hip-hop and r&b is a "c00n" and "not black"...to the point where anybody that is making that type of music is relegated to the anomaly phase of music where you have no black fans and non-blacks are the only ones that "get it"...because black people seem to be unable to think outside of that box (in America) and therefore don't support it.

Thinking about how Hendrix had to leave America to gain recognition has me thinking that this is probably the fate of the black artist who chooses to work outside that quagmire....

You know what I want to see, I want to see more black rock and roll artists saying shyt like "we're taking it back". There's still a huge market for that stuff, and if it's good black people would hop on

Everyone in this thread should have a good look at this video, maybe even watch it twice to get a complete understanding of what's happening here.

10 rep points to the first person to accurately point out the sub-genre these kids are mimicking/vulturing

Rap music in it's current form has regressed & DEvolved to such an extent that 99% of it is unlistenable. I almost wish it would just fade-away or become "unhip" overnight. If it's any black created genre(s) of music that need to be "taken back" it should start with Rock, Jazz & Soul and END with Hip-Hop. But i wouldn't even trust this current or future generation of nikkas to pull off a Rock, Jazz or Soul revitalization correctly, seeing as how they've massacred rap music.
