Was made like that so it came pre-installed on iPhones, according to Apple's request to Google. Now that Apple dropped it for pre-installation due to mobile competition Google is free to do the app however they want for the App Store.

the youtube app on the ipad was painful Thank god apple got rid of the native youtube app

ios apps are so overrated especially the ipad ones that you have to blow up. APPLE makes the google apps for ios thats why they all suck.
