So Gerard Butler being cast as Kratos just flew under everyone's radar?

:francis: Please don’t humanize Kratos is all I’m asking. I don’t need a Chains of Olympus deal where he’s OTT nice out of nowhere.

Yeah this part of that article has me worried:

As writing partner Melton says the story is going for more of an emotional pull than previous swords and sandal movies have gone for. He reveals, “With God of War, the studio’s saying, ‘We’re going to spend $150 million to make this movie. We really need to understand this character and get behind him and feel his pain and feel his emotions so that, when he is in these giant set pieces, we’re in there with him and we’re feeling it.’ That is a critique of some of these big action films, is that they often get too big and just become noise; you’re not invested in the character.”

:martin: Because of course they wanna explore his alleged “humanity” and shyt. Like Kratos wasn’t a world conquering monster BEFORE the deal with Ares.

If it was Old Kratos, I’d let it slide because he lived through some shyt and tried to change. But you gotta get Young Kratos RIGHT. Breh was reprehensible and willing to say fukk the world and everyone in it as long as he got his in the end. That’s not a character you wanna try and get people to root for, protagonist or no

I know in them earlier games Kratos was really ready to end the world :wow:

Turned all of Ancient Greece into a disaster zone because them people on Mt. Olympus wouldn’t stop fukking with him.:wow:

Theyll most likely show us his sensitive side but they can save those scenes for the ones with Athena. It's the first God of war movie, theyre going to need to show us kratos as the unrelenting revenge fueled b*stard we all know him as.
