There's no evidence that Eminem can act. He played himself in 8 mile and he was barely above average in that. I doubt he'd be better than trained actors like Hawke and Bale.

I read for years that Em was attached/considered for some boxing movie of some kind, but I didnt make the connect that it was this.
how exactly what eminem "average" in 8mile? I could see no difference between him and the "trained" actors.

without the full interview or a video of it...by reading it it almost sounds like he's joking and wasn't seriously considering it.
Depending entirely if they still don't get along. If they made up then he meant it if they still dislike each other it was probably meant to be a sarcastic joke.

just read the link yeah he was actually considering it for serious and spoke to him...however its odd that bale was already cast in it, so i'm assuming there might have been two brothers in original script

damn thats 2 near classic flicks that em turned down....then again those movies might have had a completely different reception if he took those parts. Still surprised he's done basically zero acting since 8 mile came out (besides the funny people cameo)

Rapper Eminem is being courted to make his silver-screen debut in the forthcoming Denzel Washington thriller Training Day, reports Variety.
Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are wooing the trouble-prone rapper to play the villain in the flick, about a veteran Los Angeles Police Department cop (Washington) breaking in a rookie narcotics officer.
Among the actors being considered for the role of Washington's cop-in-training sidekick are Spider-Man-elect Tobey Maguire, Ryan Phillippe, and Ethan Hawke. Shooting on the picture, to be directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Replacement Killers), is slated to begin next spring.
This would be Eminem's first major feature-film appearance (although he previously appeared in the independent project Da Hip-Hop Witch, a spoof of The Blair Witch Project). Producers are undoubtedly banking that the rapper's success on TV will translate into big box-office pull, just as Sisqo used the momentum surrounding "Thong Song" and MTV's Sisqo's Shakedown to land a role in the upcoming movie Getting Over Alison and a sitcom development deal.
